Just back from the return of the mighty Maidens to the SoCal stage... after 5 LONG months in absence, and what a return it was!
The girls came out of the gate with a storming "Be Quick or Be Dead," with Aja leading the charge. Any doubts I may have had dissolved instantly, Aja has Dickinson down! :worship: (and this is coming from a Dickinson FREAK! ME!)She was all over the stage, getting the crowd into overdrive, and singing her head off!
Linda, Jojo, Sara and Wanda had huge smiles on their faces and seem more than glad to be back onstage in SoCal, and the crowd was glad to have them back.
Among the new tunes:
Genghiskhan, Where Eagles Dare and the beautiful Revelations.
I'll flesh out a more complete review for The Metal Hall. :worship:

REMEMBER TOMORROW!!!:worship:

So many of the favorites... so many new songs... the great music just kept rolling... the setlist was loooooooooong and amazing... all the stage props & Eddie... Wow! the Maidens came back super strong after their time off. What a show!

I enjoyed all the great shows I saw with Jen singing, and look forward to many more with Aja... she definitely has the Bruce energy and moves down!

Hearing Remember Tomorrow live was the ultimate! My favorite Iron Maiden song. Thank you Maidens for playing it.
Up the Irons!!!:headbang:

Woah, they played Remember Tomorrow! Excellent stuff - that's an amazing song! I now await to hear that they played Strange World! :D
No Strange World, but Phantom of the Opera was played too! Absolutely amazing!
:hotjump:
You never know. The girls must have spent a lot of time practicing cuz they have really added quite a few songs! The Utahnz are in for a treat next weekend!
Strange World is one of my top, and I'd also love to hear Prowler and Transylvania off the first album! And Remember Tomorrow again! :)

here's the setlist from the galaxy in santa ana, 5/28/04:

be quick or be dead
2 minutes to midnight
the trooper
hallowed be thy name
genghis khan
remember tomorrow
the rime of the ancient mariner
the number of the beast
wasted years
where eagles dare
revelations
die with your boots on
phantom of the opera
run to the hills

hearing the old di'anno tunes were amazing! strange world, transylvania, killers, and prodigal son would be my next requests. it was great hearing wasted years, too. the band was amazing. (OC/DC rocked, too!) i was very impressed with aja. she's got a great voice and great energy. plus she was very friendly after the show. can't wait to see them again at paladinos in august (is this confirmed?). jojo, thanks for the water!

OMG! I recall the same kinda thing happened to Dave himself. He jumped off the drum riser and torn a ligament, and had to be carried on and off stage!! Now there is such as thing as being too like your counterpart! :D

Hope you get better soon Sara, that sounds really sore! :ill:

It was great to hear the iron ladies play again! The new songs were a huge plus! But, I did miss some of the older stuff that didn't make the cut (like Killers!). I'd have to agree with FRO, it certainly was different to see the ladies perform with a different singer. Of course I will miss Jen being up front, but I wish Jen the best and I welcome Aja to stepping up to the front position. What a great show and excellent performance Aja!

...and how about that crowd!? That place was packed! Not to mention some of the fans getting pretty rowdy...I think if Smylex was there being mr. security, he'd a give the boot to a few of them! One of them did get the boot, but it took that huge security dude to get'm out.

Sound check improvement? Maybe it was just where I was at, but I could hardly hear Sara play, and Jojo was overpowering everybody else. Couple of parts I could hardly hear Wanda jaming too. Did everybody else notice the same thing? Regardless of sound, it was still excellent!

I missed the Cheap Chick band play, but I did see the OC/DC play (for my first time). They were pretty good!

Double thumbs up ladies!!!! :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

yeah! cheap chick sounded great! kewl harmonies and pam's 12 string bass had a kewl chorus effect. i spoke with her after the show and she said cuz it was a bit out of tune. vintage! the elp trib that started the show played the hell outta that material- a pleasant surprise! that b3 was smokin'!

HEY MAIDENS!

Great to hear Aja did a top job. Been a while since I talked to the Maidens but did talk to Mini a few nights ago and mentioned I think that there needs to be some east coast shows. Im thinking at the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame would be a good show and a few other shows in Cleveland.

BTW, talked to one of my stores here in Ohio the other day and the buyer there had heard of the band and how good the band was. I told her all she has heard about the musicianship is correct :worship: . She knows an all-female KISS tribute band. Not sure of the name though. Anyway, yada yada yada ...

Keep on rockin'!

The all female KISS tribute is called Black Diamond and their website is http://www.blackdiamondgirls.com

Thanks, everybody, for coming out and bringing all that Maidenly love along. :Spin:

I've never had a first show like that with any band before. The energy in the room was unbelievable!!! The girls tried to describe what it'd be like, but it's something you have to experience first hand to truly understand.

To finally put faces to the names was really nice, too. Thanks for sticking around to say hello!
Can't wait to do it again!:hotjump:
