Maiden ---> Studio ---> March

DoD is great, and much more mature than BNW. The sound isn't perfect, but I like it. The only thing that is annoying is the vocals being deep in the mix.

When I think of VXI as an album it doesn't seem very strong, yet there is so much great stuff on there and not a great deal of shit. I love the cover art, too.

There are more songs that I like on VXI than there are on DoD. It's just the dodgy songs on VXI that give the impression that it's a bad album.

The majority of DoD just bores me... so I prefer VXI.

The only problem with VXI was the lack of production, except for The Angel and the Gambler (which is a good song, just too fucking long) all the songs are good IMO, just lacking bass in the production

The best thing about Virtual XI is the keys on The Angel & the Gambler, which make it sound like there's a horn section. The "Bah bah bah-bah" bit. Sounds great.

Yeah :( Remember hearing those shitty real audio samples before it came out? It made the album sound like it was electric-acoustic, and I was really hoping there WOULD be a horn section. Alas.

Hmmm. My opinion on VXI remains the same, and that is that it sucks, but taking "The Angel and the Gambler" out of the equation completely raises it marginally in my eyes. I still can't understand why Marky hates DOD so much, but so be it.

That is kind of how I feel about St Anger.

The sound of DoD works better on some songs than others (kinda like St Anger again really). I absolutely love the intro to Face In The Sand.

I wish I had have seen the Death On The Road tour rather than the Early Days tour. Still, I am a happy Maiden fan, and maybe I will get to catch them on the next tour for some newer material.

I may not know the album, but...

doesn't it have Futureal and The Clansman on it? How can it be so bad with those two songs on it? Are the rest complete wank or something?

Virtual 11 has some good songs on it.
Futureal and Clansman are two of them....

Maybe I like Lightning Strikes twice and Homo 3 Amigoes too. I dunno. Haven't listened to that album in years.

I could never get into LAD. I love the version of Rime of the ancient mariner though.

Yep, they're the goodies!
But the problem lies with the FACT that Maiden have at least 50 songs, and 12 albums which are better than those few. :) So why listen to Virtual XI at all?
