Well, having now returned from me trip in Europe, and now having heard both Origin and Black for Death, I have to make a statement I didn't think I would have to make.

Basically, I was hugely dissapointed with Black for Death. It is missing that "Solefald" vibe, the unpredictability, the craziness, the "Tequila Sunrise."

Don't get me wrong, I really like the album and all, and I am not saying in anyway that it is bad, becuase it is obviously not.

What I have to say is that it is a great black metal album, but it is a regular Solefald album.

With Origin I wasn't too dissapointed, though I must admit the album is perhaps 10 minutes too short than what it should be. It is a great album, but once again as with Solefald it is not up to the bands standard's.

Bye! :headbang:

The only thing I didn't like about Origin was how short it was, it was just over when I was really getting in it.

I did like only very few songs of both "Red for Fire" and "Black for Death" although I loved the whole "In Harmonia Universali" and "Pills against the Ageless Ills" albums.

i have to agree with you about Black For Death because it's also my least favorite album, even though i can assure you that if you'd just listen at least 5 more times in a short period of time, it would suddenly grow on you. and then it clicks.
the oldschool Solefald sound is about to hit the stores, it won't be long now before they'll release the remastered The Linear Scaffold and Neonism, stay put!

hmm, I found that Black... was waaaaay better than Red... which disappointed me greatly. I love Black...

Origin really disappointed me though. It did nothing for me.

I feel the same. I still hope it will grow on me. Thinking about all new albums by most of my favourite artists did noting for me (e.g. Borknagar, Arcturus, Solefald, Moonspell, My Dying Bride, Tristania, Opeth). :erk: I hope the new Vintersorg album ends this trend.

Origin was a wonderful album, I wasn't expecting to enjoy it since I was dissapointed in Epic on its release, but Origin was a really good album, as Kazaum said, just a shame it was such a short album. (White is such a sexellent song)

The thing is with Solefald I'm sure it was just an attempt to do something different, kind of reinforce their Avant-Garde status. I found a few tracks to be stale and their ideas repeative, but it wasn't all a bad album alone, just compared to previous works it was a dissapointment. But what do you expect? they're musicians, artists. It's something they will do, change, develop and just experiment. One thing I love about bands like this is you always know the next album won't be the same as the last, you may not like it or you may love it more then older work, but one thing you can't deny they will change.

Totally agree.

what happens if a band releases albums that all are the same thing? All musicians changes from the first albums and evolve... for what to release album after album if all are the same?

I didn't feel dissapointed with Epic, I really love that album and the evolution shown in that, and Origin is wonderful (too short, but excellent)... I can't expect Borknagar makes a TOD pt II or a Q pt II... or expecting Vintersorg makes a TF or a ÖS pt II... it's better to listen up that albums and to enjoy'em, always expecting something new... the same with Solefald.

I hope Solens Rötter be a amazing album... something tells me it will be.
