I have learned a lot from this forum. So i decided to start producing my first ever song with real drums and drummer.

Ive just mix this yesterday after almost three hours of tracking down the drums. Salute to my fren for laying out his drumming skills. I replace all the kits with samples except the overheads.

Guitars runs thru Gearbox with Peavey 5150, Marshall JCM900 and Diezel Herbert modules. No custom impulse. Bass was just DI.

I guess dats its. Please make some comments. Thnx.

by *amp* modules, do you mean amp similation or modules like on the randall head or do you own those amp heads?

whoops, missed that...
i read "guitar runs through 5150, JCM900, Herbert"...
sorry

Pretty good track but sounds kinda one dimensional too me in the beginning...

Lordtech you should use the Esnips website to let people hear your stuff. Once you've opened your account it's much more practical than Rapidshare/Sendspace/whatever...

Can't check your stuff at now.

yeah, u're right.. im using amp simulations coz i dont have any good amp yet, so far i only have my crate power block with Smarvo cabinet. Im investing right now to bring in gud amps from Thomann store or perhaps ebay.

so here's another link to the song.

Solid production. I would bring the drums up some. In music like this, I think the Drums need to be much more upfront in the mix to drive the song. Or maybe its the fact that I'm a drummer that makes me bias. Can't really hear the bass player too well either. The sounds themselves sound really good Especially the guitars sound fantastic. Maybe beef up the Kicks, and turn them and the snare up, give the drums more presence in the mix.

Interesting situation (concerning urinalcakemix´s post) -

I think the drums are allright in terms of volume, perhaps I´d turn up the OHs a bit... and I´d try to fade them out a bit smoother when it comes to the clean guitars. Since you replaced the drumsounds with samples I´d recommend to change the snare-sample or give it a more velocity-sensitive one... since this drummer seems to like little snare-roll-things a lot, and for me they´re a bit static at this point. Oh, and I´d add some more reverb to the toms in the clean-guitar-part ... just for the atmosphere.
On my headphones there´s a constant, let´s say "flirring", sound in the distorted part after the clean guitars - could it be the bass with a bass player not playing toooo tight at all? Sounds a bit like bass + pick.

The guitarsound is ok, but (just for me and my taste) a bit "hollow" or "fluffy" - there´s a certain amount of "thickness".

Besides those personal "I´d change this"-stuff: Well done, esp. for the first try in catching real drums. Congrats :headbang:

All guitars and bass were done by myself. Will do something about wat u guys mentioned later tonite. Overall, thanx!! \m/

im using vista OS for my lappy. I would like to mix the guitars by DI's now. I have Voxengo Boogex & Curve EQ, but it seems not that voxengo products r not compatible with vista (uuurghh!!) So now im using SIR2 for the impulse. I would like to tighten my guitars for tht punch-in-the-face quality. Wat other eq is better other than curve eq?

Looking forward to improve my work~

ESnips isn't by far the most compatible online player. I would use soundclick. I browse with safari and I can't use esnips for example. And I think Firefox has issues with esnips, too.

Can't comment on the song right now, because of the compatibility-issues ;)
Sorry

Try to add some kind of low-cut to the tom´s reverb to make it less boomy + check if the pre-delay of your delay plugin (if there´s something like that) is on 0. If you know "Elegy" by Becoming The Archetype -> the way the drums sound after it´s piano part is what I was thinking about :)
