many megadeth fans here..?

Any of you heard their unplugged stuff..?

I have some scattered bootleg songs from a presentation in Argentina and I must say there are great songs. Maybe because it isn't cool for a thrash band to have unplugged material Dave never release them, but I bet they could have manged to get a great live unplugged album is they wanted.

Yeah, Megadeth have had 2 great albums of late. I really have been very happy with all their stuff except Risk & World Needs a Hero..looking forward to another solid release soon.
Alot of people cry about them not being "thrash" anymore, but who really cares, the songwriting has improved significantly over the years.

Some people (including me) can argue that they never were a typical thrash band like Testament, Coroner, Intruder, etc. They approach to thrash was more melodic and structured, but for sure that with the exception of the bad albums ("Risk", TWNAH, TSHF) they have always been a METAL band and they keep playing metal, whcih is more than we can say from many bands out there. :Smokedev:

Megadeth pwns, my mom has Countdown to Extinction, I ripped the whole thing to my computer.

Your mother has CTE? Either you're too young (and therefore she is too) or she's pretty open minded :)

most people under the age of 15 who think avenged sevenfold are a good band

I may not be 35 and on the verge of a midlife crisis but that doesn't mean you can put me in the same category as people who think tokio hotel is a good band. Avenged Sevenfold is made up of white trash and they sold out pretty bad on their latest album but they made some good shit before that.

On topic: I don't know everything yet but I'm sure to listen to it when I get the chance. Rust in peace was awesome and United Abominations was cool.

They had a great four-album run that very few other thrash bands can meet, and some of their mainstream stuff (Youthanasia through Cryptic Writings) is still good, but the rest of their discography is incredibly hideous. I mean, Dawn Patrol. Amerikastan. Dread and the Fugitive Mind. Sweating Bullets. The list goes on. Those songs make Steve Harris look sound of mind when writing The Angel and the Gambler, and Mustaine has written dozens of them.

I understand your frustration and I'm apologize in the name of the board. We the old ones tend to generalize, but I can assure you we're proud to see young people carrying the banner of the old school. After all we also have our regret to have been to young to listen to Deep Purple, Thin Lizzy or Black Sabbath live when they're at their peak in the early 70's.

P.S I edited your post, again even if I understand your frustration there is no way we can resource to insults, here at UMOS we support intelligent, peaceful discussion.

I love Megadeth. Its my fav band of all time actually. Im not interested in Judas Priest but I have my ticket for the show to see Testament and Megadeth tear the place up in Stockholm.

I like all the albums, not equally of course but I enjoy them all. There is something about ow Dave Mustaine writes music and spits out his lyrics that just hooks me.

I consider myself a Megadeth fan, but I only really enjoy the albums from Rust in Peace through TSHF. I enjoy parts of the first three and I hate UA.
