There's a local used shop with some Marshall cabs for decent prices, but I have no idea which ones are worth getting, or what speakers are in what cab. What should I look for on the plate in the bottom left corner of the cab? I remember seeing JCM900, 1960A, etc. Is it like the heads, where the old JCM800s are the ones to look for?

Thanks!

I may be wrong but I think that cab double input with selector means JCM900 and later.
Usually the same that you can find brand new. Loaded with 4 clestion G12T75 (I hate them) exept TV model (1960AX) and Vintage (1960AV). TV are loaded with greenbacks as far as I can remember. They sound great for classic rock... Greenback are extremely fragile. 25 watts each, they can't handle 26 watts (!). The Vintage model is the best (imho)... It is loaded with 4 celestion V30....There's older models with celestion g12h30 and g12?65. They often sounds better than g12t75...
1960 means 4x12, 1965 means 4x10 (eeewk!)
A means Slant, B means straight.
1936 means 2x12 in a big cab.
1922 means 2x12 in a small cab.
1912 means 1x12.
Anyway, check what's inside if you can.
The real good jcm800 models are 1959 (super lead, 4 inputs, 100 watts) 2203 (master volume lead, 2 inputs 100 watts) and 2204 (master volume lead 50 watts ), . One channel only. Older JMP 2203 (older design) are quite the same.
The later models are diode clipping based (not good) and have two channels. 2205, 2210...

If your looking for a good cheap cab, search for a Sovtek 4x12. It sound awsome.

1960A and JCM900 are the same, just Marshall replaced the old logo "JCM900" with "1960 lead", shitty cabs loaded with G12-t75.
1960V (V30's) are good but not as Engl or Mesa
1960X and 1960T are loaded with greenback, they're different just for the grill cloth, the first based on the 70's model the second on 60's.
JCM800 cabs are very good, cones are not V30's, cant rember what kind.
If you want a cab with V30 well built and a thousand times better than marshall try framus, here in italy costs just 630 euros.

I think 1960 is the name for any 4x12 for ages. Marshall isn't the best cab manufacturer, that's true.

Try to get a cab with Vintage 30s (Engl, Boogie, Randall). Don't buy that G12 shit!
G12H30, G12-80 or G12M30 aren't shit. G12t75 are shit.
A lot of eminence and electro-harmonix are great too (even better sometimes)
