Laney pisses all over Marshall. Nowadays Marshalls suck, Laney amps are awesome.

Anyone that thinks a Laney is better than a marshall needs to hear my vintage 1980 Jmp 1 Superlead. And become a believer.

Laneys ain't bad, Opeth had a badassed live sound, but on record, most of the sounds ain't laney. They use marshalls, boogies, peavey 5150s etc also... so... maybe that should tell you something.

The amps that Opeth use live are pretty good all rounders, but definatly sound better clean than dirty.

Imho, the best amps money can buy are the Diezel VH4S, a vinatge marshall made before '85 or a peavey 5150. The laneys come somewhere aftr this.

Oh, and whats this about marshalls being trendy? No my friend, mesa dual rectos are trendy ;)

Old marshalls kick arse, literally. The growl and dirt you can get out of them is fantastic. One of them cranked with an overdrive pedal...fantastic :)

Personally, I wouldn't go for either at the moment, but that's mainly as I have a love affair with mesa and now rivera stuff :)

But a cranked old marshall will make anyone wet their pants :)

I don't think buying into marshall would typify anyone as a trend follower if they were getting the proper stuff. And by this I mean their valve heads and amps, not the marshall valvestate and cheap solid state stuff. Marshalls are also great for modding and hot rodding (but then again so is any amp), in fact, I am thinking of modding mine more, seeing as it's already less valuable becuase of the added FX loop I have in it :S

Yeah, and every morning when I take a shit I find some gold coins in the toilet afterwards...

But alright, if I had the money I would love to get what you call the "proper stuff". :)
