I may try the 8100 into 5150 but I'm not sure I even can. I don't have a 4 ohm cab that I can use as a dummy load.

As far as I know a solid state amp like the 8100 doesn't need a speaker load.
Could be wrong though.

Yes. The VS8100 can run without a load. No load on this kind of SS amp means no current and no OT to fry.

Here is my chain, does this make sense? I've never chained (slaved?) two amps before, want to make sure I'm not fucking anything up
Reamp out -> TS9 -> 8100 input -> 8100 send -> 5150 return

8100 boost channel volume is around 4, not too loud. Sounds pretty cool upon first listen, will post if I still think so later on ; )

Thought it would be good to hear a comparison of all these,
The 8100 is super bright and present compared to the 6505 and recto.

... doesn't just lowering the treble and/or presence help?

The 8100 through the 6505 sounds really good to me. I think I even prefer it to the 6505 and triple recto.

I just picked up a 8100 myself for 125 euro :hotjump:, might use it on some reamps next month. Probably going to try the 5150 power amp route as wel.
