Just a short one as I am hard at work- As there was no megadeth forum I thought some people here might be interested in the following:

From 'HotMetalNewsUSA.com'

Former Metallica member Dave Mustaine contacted us yesterday to confirm the
rebirth of one of America's most succesful and talented Heavy Metal bands -
MEGADETH. Despite auctioning all his equipment following an incident in
which his right hand was injured, Dave has decided that enough is enough and
is currently putting together an all new line-up in a rehearsal studio in
Nevada. The new line up will head into the studio to record a new album in
March and will look to release the new record in the Fall.

We spoke to Dave about the new look Megadeth and his plans for the future:

"Well all through our history we've had a lot of new members, as I'm sure
everyone knows, but this time I've decided to look a bit harder at who I
introduce to the band. Initially I wanted Junior to come back... and when he
turned me down I was quite... well I kinda wondered wether I should do this
or not. But then I spoke to a few friends and they told me I should push on
anyway. So I called this guy I know called Randy who was a bass player I
knew from way back even before Metallica and then he introduced me to
another guy called Julian Reece who apparently played in a Megadeth cover
band, which was kinda weird cos he knew most of the stuff without me telling
him what to do. I was kinda hoping that I could play myself but it isn't
really possible so I'm just going to have to sing and I'm currently talking
to another guitarist although I can't tell you who he is at the moment.

As for the drummer, well Nick wanted to come back - but I was apporoached by
Tommy Lee, believe it or not, and though it didn't work out it made me think
that I should open my eyes to some other people. One guys name kept coming
up, and it was strange cos I never thought of it but this guy Curtis Beeson
from an old band called Nasty Savage - he's totally smoking and he's got
great double bass ability which is cool because the new Megadeth album is
going to be completely heavy and brutal.

You know, my whole career has been basically overshadowed by Metallica and
my time in that band and I think its time to really kick their asses. I mean
everyone I know tells me that St Anger is just a piece of crap and I have to
agree with them y'know... but what everyone also tells me is that though the
album is crap - the intention was good. So what I think people want from a
new Megadeth is not another commercial pussy of an album like 'Risk', they
want a real balls out display and I think we can give them that.

I'm also hoping to write a couple more songs with Sean and Brian from
Diamond Head, like we did on 'Crown Of Worms' - although wether they will
make the album I don't know.

We are also going to re-record some of the tracks from the first album,
probably 'Looking Down the Cross' and 'Rattlehead' and I might try and play
the solos on those myself. Those will probably be bonus tracks for the CD or
for Japan or something...cos I see a lot of interest from Japan for this
album.

We have several labels interested, but Metal-Is do have an option on the
band it just depends if someone bigger wants to buy us out.

Would we like to tour with Metallica? Sure... though I don't really see it
happening.

Umm, no sorry I can't tell you who is going to be playing the guitar for
us... he's currently under contract to another label and until that's
sorted...

So can you confirm that it is not Loudness guitarist Akiri Takasaki?

I can't tell you who it is. (Dave was nodding at this point) I have been
told not to tell you, though I really want to - but you can see me and you
know what I'm doing so....

And is it true that you have approached Ross Robinson to produce the
album???

It's a possibility...but nothing is set in stone yet. I just want to get out
there and y'know take the metal back to the people instead of all this
sitting around"

Any thoughts?

heh, 'st anger' is heavier than anything megadeth ever released like. 'the world needs a hero' heh?

I thought the 'Rust in Peace' album was quite brutal but suffered from a bad 80's production. But I can agree that Megadeth in gereral were not quite as heavy as Metallica in the 80's or any Slayer album.

I think that Megadeth's worst album is still far better than 'St Anger'. Somebody should tell Lars to stop creating noise pollution with his biscuit tins or pots and pans(am I the only one that thinks that drum sound was beyond horrible?).

rust is dead good yeah. i liked cryptic writings too, but since then it has been just mediocre i reckon.

St. Anger is shit, but it's at least heavy shit :erk:

its not that good of an album itself but its obviously above the average metal release these days.

Give us a break. St Anger stinks like donkey shit, it's totally uninspired, the whole album is a mess, the production sucks arse and they're stealing Kyuss' riffs.
A whole bunch of recent metal albums can screw St Anger easily !

Megadeth is back and that is most important and happy news! Actually Megadeth is one of my three favorite band and I am delighted to hear this news. Thanx Tye!
