Melbourne, australia
Im guessing i'll pretty much be waiting forever to see bands such as Dillinger Escape Plan, Converge, Candiria, Cephalic Carnage, Skycamefalling, 7 Angels 7 Plagues etc play in australia.

Whats the local hard/metal/grindcore scene like?

Melbourne has the best grind bands in the country , check out Fuck I'm Dead , Captain Cleanoff (SA) , The Kill (RIP , there still releasing records), Vaginal Carnage , KUtabare and The day everything became nothing .

Cephalic Carnage..how i wish they would come here

yes but unkle is right, there is some sick grind in melb and in australia :D

speaking of grind i picked up Machetazo - Trono de huensos yesterday, its awesome, definatly on for the grind fans

your guess is as good as mine
i think it fell away when dave took over vocal duties in running with scissors, but now that he is no longer with them i spose FMC just dwindled off.

another grind band from melbourne is Captain DeathStick: Pirate Inspired Grindcore :D (ill never miss a chance to plug one of my bands :p)

Dude! They are some of my fav bnds at the moment. Have yet to hear 7 Angels... What are they about? Brisbane lacks decent bands in the Hardcore/Grind genre. Although Brisbane does house Misery, Astriaal, Excruciate, Transfear, Hollow, Sakkuth, PLD, to name a few. It's slowly getting there. Oh, by the way. Jane Doe owns.

Yah, im incredibly jealous of the States hardcore scene at the moment.

The caliber of talent and amount of shows they are currently getting is disgustingly unfair.

I was considering shelling out $xxxx to make my way over to the new england hardcore festival. Now that was a fucking lineup.

And as for 7A7P, they can be best described breifly as Poison the well crossed with Burnt By The Sun, in a sence. Very good hardcore, and well worth picking up.

And yes, Jane Doe is a breathtaking release.

Kool. I'll have to chek out 7A7P. Sounds good. Just heard Botch and Curlupanddie on the weekend. Heard of them? Botch have been around for a while and I think they've disbanded already. Quite a shame as the cd I heard was Killer. Curlupanddie are crazy. The album was produced by Kurt from Converge and the band are deffinitly influenced by them. Very intense. Check them out. I think Botch is on Hydra Head Records and Curl.. is on Revelations or something.

Im gonna push this further. Ive been listening to Jhazmynes Lullaby non stop as of late. This is incredibly good hardcore, with a cross hardcore/death vocal style. And as mentioned earlier, a guitar style of PTW/BBTS with a few hardcore-melodics thrown in for good measure. Pick up this album!!!

Well i was planning to head into the city next wednesday, to pick up some albums. And botch was high on my list, as it had been given to me as a "dillinger escape plan" reccomendation. Could you please give me a rundown on the album you heard, if thats possible? I also want to pick up a 'knut' album. Aparantly they are a tech coalesce.

Sounds good, i'll have to check them out as well. I have a hardcore album that produced by Jake from converge. "Ramallah - But a whimper". Short but brutal and blunt hardcore album. Great!!

You know of candiria? What do you think?

Candiria are kool. I have 300 Percent Density and Process Of Self Development. The former is the better of the two and their latest. A fairlt unique take on the whole hardcore/noiscore thing. The go from hip hop to jazz to bludgening riffs all in the same song. If you like something different, check them out. Process is good but lacks the quality that 300... has. I have a couple of Knut mp3's which I rate highly. I need to get some their shit myself. I'd sit them more with BBTS than Coalesce though. As for Botch, all I know is that it was their latrest release and reminded me of a more relaxed converge. But still fucking BRUTAL if you know what I mean. I'll have to check out those bands you mentioned.

I have only managed to find Candiria's 300% Density. But the more i listen to the album, the more respect i have for what they are doing. It is a brilliant release.

And with the other albums, i ended up getting:

Botch - We are the romans
Knut - Challenger

Both are great albums. Personally, i think the Botch album sounds a hell of a lot like DEP, except its doesnt have as many hairpin twists and turns as DEP, and doesnt share as many of the offbeat rhythms that DEP are so well known for on Calculating Infinity.

The knut album is great as well. Heh, this one actually reminds me more of a tech-er old converge. Just shows how people can have different takes on things.

And i also picked up a very 'different' album. "Lightning Bolt - Ride the skies". Uh fuck, i dont know how to explain this one. An instrumental band who's style is a fusion of jazz and grind. And no, its not grind with jazzy breakdowns and shit, its what you would get if you threw 4 cups of jazz and 3 cups of grind in a blender. Its hard to explain, one of those 'you have to hear it to understand it things'. Grab a listen somewhere if you get the chance.

i got cripple bastards and rompeprop the other week
cripple bastards is awesome oldskool grind x with a bit of hardcore from italy

and rompeprop is awesome groovy porngrind \m/

ok well im here, ... fmc ceased gigging in 2002 so that i could learn the rws material over the next 3 months... once the material was set RWS kinda took over and yet i still recorded a new fmc cd that has never actually been released. over the next year i sung with rws and recorded the debut cd "rock" and had begun performing in my solo band Dreadcircus.....

I relelased a solo dreadcircus cd and began playing with a full japanese backup band studying music here in oz. Unfortunately i decided to stop performing with rws due to myself realizing i was a transsexual and began taking hormones to cure being male and thought it would hinder rws career which saw me quit the band.. i have been on hormones 11 months now and have recently relocated to sydney and am living quite happily as a woman and performing solo dreadcircus sets in sydney...

Wow why the fuck am i telling this to some metal forum, hmmm possibly cause i was always an extremist and never relly gave a fuck what ppl thought about my actions, attitudes or opinions... if any1 is interested in getting a copy of the unreleased fmc cd feel free to email me...

and as per usual if you think im a freak or whatever, save the insults cause i really couldnt give a fuck.. lol

anyhoo hope you enjoyed fmc / rws over the time i performed within these bands, and as always stay metal
