Hello, guys! Here is a song from our upcoming LP and we are aiming for a thick sound and we have no clue where to turn to. We'd love to listen to mixing options to give us an idea on how the album should go for sonically so if you have the chance do give this a try. I promise you are going to have fun :)

Edit: For drums, I used S2.0 and the tempo is 130BPM.
Double edit: here are a couple of reference tracks for the mix.

This one was mixed by me days ago:

This one was mixed by a friend and I personally think the lead needs more volume or perhaps an alternate sound.

For more reference mixes please refer to these videos below to get an idea:

Let's see what you guys can come up with ;)

Thanks for your time!

yeah man!! i love those Bands especially Rapture!! Is there anywhere a reference track of these multitracks?

Thanks for your reply, man. I haven't done any mix yet myself but I was thinking on getting a EVH 5153 (or PV 5150) with something ENGL for the rhythm guitar. For the leads I'd like to have a thick (probably digital) delay with some awesome trails to it. I once used Soundtoys Echoboy and I was pleasantly surprised with the options you have there. The drums are S2.0 and something fat and snappy should do, I think.

If you need any additional info please don't hesitate to throw me a line ;)

Thanks again, brother!

Waldo.

Will give this a try, i can reamp with 5153/5150...but the youtube videos of your band i was thinking a Orange Rockerverb or my JVM could fit better. I´m a Kemper user, so unlimited ;)
I got the Soundtoys Echoboy. I´m into this kind of music i think i know what you expect, i give it a try got lots of freetime right now :)

Hey Lars, feel free to move the things around to your liking. I use a 5153 live and I also own an ENGL FB60 so that's why I mentioned those amps but I am in no way confined to those options. I actually think a Rockerverb/JVM mix is a great idea so be my guest :) I will definitely keep an eye open for your updates. I am very curious about what you can come up with.

Here's my quick take on it, about 1 hours worth of tweaking. Might redo it with more time some day. :)

Thank you so much for this. I personally think the lead guitars need a thicker sound or could be only that they are a bit buried in the mix. That idea for the intro is nice but could need something else. I tried it with an ozone preset called something like "out of venue" effect and sounded pretty neat, perhaps we can try that again. That's all that comes to mind at the moment, I think :)

Edit: Now that I listen to it with more detail. The seems to be pumping on several spots. It is probably just me anyway :)

Cheers! Thank you for taking the time to work on this! I do think that the rhythm guitars are a bit over-powering. The lead guitar could use a thicker sound too and more volume or perhaps some eq could work. I think it needs to cut more through the mix. Just my opinion.

Thanks, man!

My quick mix

Hey brother! Thanks for checking our stuff out. I think the lead guitars and vocals are a bit low in the mix. The toms seem to be a bit thin too. For the rhythm guitars we could use a bit more volume and perhaps more power. Overall I think that drums, particularly the snare are a bit high in the mix burying everything else a bit. Would you agree? :loco:

Regards :kickass:

Actually I never heard of Aphotic until now. I did a little research and they ended up being awesome. I will totally add them to my collection of doom. Thanks for the tip.

Please check your PM's whenever you have the chance for some pointers on the mix :)
