You know it, you love it. Discuss power metal, traditional metal, melodeath, etc. in this thread.

Let's start the discussion with:
Iron Maiden
Manowar
In Flames
At The Gates
Primal Fear
Kalmah
Soilwork
Helloween
Nocturnal Rites
Blind Guardian

I've always thought of melodic metal as referring to stuff like Firewind, where it's not really power or progressive, but doesn't really fit in with trad metal. But that can be discussed in the power metal thread. There is no reason for this to exist.

No, I'm pointing out that Randy made a thread in the "non-metal" sub-forum and claimed "Classic Rock" to be a genre.

It isn't a genre either. But its some kind of category for sure, just for the more notable artists out there when people refer to it.

BTW, I didn't indicate that melodic metal was a genre. Just wanted to make a generic thread that covered the melodic genres of metal, since the death, black, and doom metal threads don't necessarily address this topic.

I just want to jump in and say that "melodic metal" is a term used by pretty much every power metal band, because they don't want to call themselves "power metal".

I just do a mental replacement at this point.
