Mercan Dede

Just curious if any of you have heard Mercan Dede ( www.mercandede.com ) - it's not metal or rock or anything. It's Sufi music with lots of ethnic instrumentation, Middle Eastern textures, and occasional vocals that are haunting and emotionally draining.

mercan dede mixes electronic music with traditional turkish and middle eastern melodies and uses traditional instruments (ney in particular) to great effect along with the electronics. people here could enjoy it think. seyahatname and journeys of a dervish should sound interesting to those not familiar with traditional turkish music. i have yet to hear his latest two albums, though.
