Any idea to what might be wrong?

Thanks.

With a second thought, it could also be a failing component particularly a capacitor or a loose/breaking connection on a ribbon cable.

Regardless it would be a difficult issue to troubleshoot yourself as the damage most likely will not be visible. You would have to take it to a tech or a friend that knows his way around an amp.

each seems plausible. If it were a failing component...would it be easily replaced?

true. I'll wait and see if Boogie has any more info too. Thanks for the help!

Something you could do is hook a constant signal up to the input, like a radio or something and then while it's playing, jiggle the knobs/sliders around and see if you find one that seems to be the problem. Usually intermittent problems can surface during playing due to vibration and if there's a cracked solder joint or dirty pot/slider it can do stuff like this. Pots/sliders/jacks etc are more prone to failure than most other parts due to user interaction so I generally start troubleshooting there.

Here's a Mark 3 schematic:

The Graphic EQ is in the lower left.

that's a good idea Sloan. I am fairly certain that it is the EQ and when that Midrange comes back in I feel like it is basically a bypass of the entire graphic EQ circuit. Now if I could just read that hand-written schem

The problem is that the issue only happens when the EQ is engaged. Unfortunately the schematic doesn't show how the EQ is connected into the amp. Depending on how it is connected to the amp, a dry solder joint could be in the EQ circuit, the relay/LDR or even in the switching matrix.

After looking over the schematic, I am thinking that it could be something to do with LDR6.

So I Check outed things under the hood and found some oxidation on the solder joints...cleaned things up. But the problem still exists. I have posted on SLOClone forum too.

All the info I have gathered from the forums lead to the LDR switching...I will swap out a couple and see if it fixes things.

Thanks for all your help guys!!
