ok....I have never recorded one before. but a band I am gonna record has them. whats the best approach to this. i hear you guys talk about this amp but to be honest Ive never heard one in person. should i double track per-side? what are your thought on this amp? to get an idea what they sound like here http://www.myspace.com/nonxrocks

I have only used dual and triple recs.

my best advice would be keep the bass no higher than 11 o clock (I usually have it less). try and keep the gain fairly low, and start with the other EQ knobs at 12 and go from there.

also I think bold and silicone diodes mode is best for metal, but it may be worth flicking those switches just so you know what difference they make to the tone. also tubescreamer is a must with most metal and these amps. I personally have found these amps fairly straightforward to dial, but the bass thing I think is the main thing to keep in mind.

cool..... I think I'm gonna put a sm57 and a ksm27 on it and see if i can come up with a heavy tone from it but i will def watch that bass. any other tip would be appreciated

Yeah, big +1 to keeping the bass below 11:00, and also, the tone knobs really build off one another, starting with gain, then treble, mid, bass, and presence. So you should set all the knobs to around 12:00 first, then set the gain how you like it, then treble (I have it at pretty much exactly 1:30 on the red channel of my 2-channel Dual Rec), then mid, bass, and presence. Also, for the love of god, be careful with the presence knob; I usually don't have it above 9:00 on the red channel. And yeah, Bold and Diode rectification without a doubt, tube rectifiers are just too loose and flubby for my tastes, and spongy is exactly what it sounds like And if it's a 3-channel Dual or Triple Rectifier, I've always preferred what I've heard from the orange channel (the red is apparently identical except for a monstrously over-the-top presence knob).

And a TS (with the usual low drive and middle tone/level settings) is indeed a MUST

I usually have the bass knob at like 8 or 9 o clock and get my low end by cranking the master output. also, make sure your effects send is at noon, and mess around cranking the return starting at 12:00 to get a good low end junt out of the speakers.

I have found that you need less bass with passive p/ups as soon as I threw emgs in my guitar, I noticed that I could actually use some of the low end this amp has to offer! I used to have the bass knob at 7 oclock with my tone zones!

I think the recto really need emgs and a ts to shine as a metal rhythm amp!
