Mesa Traditional Impulses to try!!!

yeah these definitely sound good. you should try getting some off axis impulses too next time

i really wish someone would make an impulse sample cd, like any other professional sample cd but with impulses instead (andy, are you listening?), so i can just record the line out of an amp head and slap an impulse on to get a pro sound without having to piss my neighbors off

Very nice. These are probably the nicest 4x12 impulses I have heard. Very usable and they do indeed sound great in Revalver II.

Absolutely killer sound!
Great, man!
How did you get that?
Man, i love that guitar sound!!!

Sounds killer man. Mind sharing your GuitarSuite settings  ?

Thanks a lot! :)

I recorded four tracks of guitars. Two 100% left and right, and two 80%. The 100% tracks had a Guitarsuite Boss SD-1 (gain ~1, Tone ~5, Level at max) going to Revalver MKII (I lost the settings, but it was basically the Kitty amp model on Modern channel, bass tuned a bit down and middles a bit up, and presence on 5, going to Revalver's own impulse section running the Between-impulse). The 80% tracks had also the SD-1 (settings about 5, 5 and 8) going to Guitarsuite JCM900 (channel B, drive 8.2, low 2.6, mid 7.2, high 8 and presence 6). The guitar tracks were then sent to Waves C4 with the Sneap preset and a little eq (cut the lowest frequencies and also a ~3dB cut at around 1000Hz).

The guitar I used was an LTD EC-400 with an EMG81 in the bridge position. Since I recorded that one quickly at home, I didn't have a DI, just a cable from the guitar to the 3,5mm line-in of a SB Live! 128 :D That's the reason to the nasty buzz.

Ask ahead if there's anything more, I'd be glad to answer :)

Shadow_Walker: Thanks for the reply. That's a nice guitar tone also. Nice and punchy. Glad they are working for you also. It makes making the Impulses worthwhile.

Thanks, well for a guitar rig 2 sample it's decent, anyway :) I'd love to try them out with a real amp.

Good sound Guitarhack.
Can you share your amp settings?
Do you monitor with impulse in real time? Is there latency? I know if you monitor from daw, there is a 10ms latency..

Hack,

These are great. Have been playing around with these for a while tonight and am dead impressed. Combined with my new '81 in the Horizon, my POD's never sounded better. Cheers mate....

Oh, and if you ever feel like doing a few more (and a favour for a fellow Victorian)....a set of Fredman impulses would go a long way! :D

No problem bud. Excellent work :) Will look forward to that.

My Defection:.....yep! Left Melb almost 10 years ago and doubtful that I'll be returning on a perm basis either as I'm heading back to the UK and buying a place there :D. Still love heading back there but virtually all of my old stomping grounds have gone.

Good idea Diblan. I am n00b in the ways of Fredman, but the straight-on mic is dead centre isn't it? If so "CENTRE" Impulse would do. The angled one is pointed at 45 degrees towards the centre also yeah? I will put something in place to simulate the first straight-on mic and place the second angled one accordingly and remove the faux first mic and see how it goes. Will try it on the weekend.

Outstanding....will have to send you "a slab" of your whatever tipple you prefer :D

GuitarHack
Thanx man for excellent work! Your impulses kick ass all other impulse and cabinet modelling stuff what i heard. :)

P.S. To reach right Fredman sound, you need mix a Stright and Angled mics in antiphase for each guitar track. I use a mono subgroups in Nuendo.
