In Spanish, Mesa means "Table" as in "Tea Table" so is common to pronounce it "Messa"

Antonio, it also speaks of mountain/rock things that look like this, right?

Or is that just a Spanglish bastardization of it?

Yeah Jeff, you are right, but is a bit rare to use it, cause the word "Meseta" is like more suitable and more people will know what you are talking about, but indeed "Mesa" is the right word for that

you think they are overpriced in the states?
Try to get one new over here lol

I pronounce it in german anyway. so I guess it's "meh-sa" ;)

Haha,
me too. But I'm a little bit more extreme, I pronounce it "Meh-sah":goggly:

As the german I am...

And something about the prices:

Thats the definition of a pricey piece of wood...

That wouldn't bother me at all but now(price is at 1500€ since two weeks, 1300€ before) all the used gear sellers(privates) are totally off the leash with their charge...

I cannot tell you what I've paid for a Mesa OS, the only thing that comforts me is that my cab is not black, it's a special edition with kinda gold clothed front and it should arrive in the next minutes:rock:

Anyways, the truth is that you have to be able to offer a Recto cab and amp.

lol thats a cool discussion :)

I am from Germany and I say the "e" in Mesa exactly as I say the "e" in Porsche...

I loled so hard!

Porsch-A!

OMG that one killed me guys.

I love a morning in the studio, wake and bake and waiting for my MEHSAH cab:kickass:

Ah, and of course, reading the forum for the lolz

I'll take everyone's points from above.

But,

It's May-sa.

Also on a similar note,
does anyone else prononounce it Bay-emoth?
I used to until I started listening to the band, and when I saw interviews they pronounced it ba-hemoth.

I always pronounced it Beh-hemoth, but then again I used the word long before I knew of the band :D

And Rhys, personally I'm not entirely sure there are exceptions to my rule - I say "niche" as "neesh", for example, which seems to be a rare one ;)

Neesh, is the correct pronunciation afaik, "nitch" sounds horrible

That's what I meant by Ba-hemoth.
I started using the american pronunciation in favor of the british one, after seeing the band use the american one.
