Meshuggah-Nothing

You no like CC?
It's not bad, but the none EP is better. Contradictions Collapse is already in the style of their other stuff, though it is a bit more varied and not as monotonous. Destroy Erase Improve already bores me, as do Chaosphere and Nothing.

This thread is ultra-crap, so it is fitting for such a shitty album and a shitty band.

As for the anti-homo thing, get over yourself. Anyone who is that open about their sexuality is clearly a turd of an excuse for a human-being. However, if you aren't gay, you are still a shitbag, because only shitbag would think that it is funny.

As for your musical tastes, they clearly suck (exception = meshuggah). Plus, you can't whinge and whine when people give you a hard time after you write a six line rant about why you dont like something others do.

I made this thread to give others advice on this album; I do not have to give praise to it. And for your information; a rant can be anything more than one sentence. It is all an opinion of the observer. Why, you just made a six-line rant yourself. Second of all; you may have the right to call me a "shiybag" because it is a free country; but your reason for me being one makes no sense. I don't see why anyone as open about their sexuality as me would be a "shitbag". Of course, you're right, if your definition of "shitbag" is: person that is open of his sexuality because he does not fear what anyone says about it.

Unlike the majority of the closeted world; I have realized that we all have imperfections and unusual qualities; in one way or another. So, in conclusion, you haven't the right to call me a turd of an excuse for a human being; without calling yourself one first.

As for Aenimated: So, you admit to being a complete, immature, insecure, coward? It seems to me that's what you just did.

How can you have a valid opinion on a metal cd when you don't listen to metal yourself? That's like giving a Britney Spears fan a Cryptopsy album and asking them to review it, what do you think they are going to say?

I don't believe I said anything of the sort, but thanks for putting words in my mouth.

Maybe you should stop being a goodie-two shoes "omfg we all have rights n oopinions and were all equal" faggot on internet forums (which is something my 12 year old brother would do), and go listen to some decent music.

I don't have something in my signature saying "I'm heterosexual" do I? Yep, didn't think so. Come to think of it, none of the other members do either. Apparently, you aren't the sharpest tool in the shed either. I don't give a rats-arse about your 'personal flaws'. Your mental sickness is none of my business as is it none of anyone else on this forums business, thus there is no need to advertise it, like a self-righteous, outspoken nit-wit.

As for my reasons for this thread sucking, it was purely because of the inane nature of most of the banter throughout the thread, which as far as I can see is self-inflicted bagging of you. The review, as you can note in my first post, I agreed with.

i now *get* this album, think it's fabulous, if you're feeling reeeally depressed then stick it on loud and it crushes everything in its sound path so you don't have to! and haake's performance is really quite wonderful, don't know why lots of people don't like the solos so much either, i think there's some sublime note choice going on, i now prefer it to chaosphere!

If I look at one song a time, they're inventive and really heavy, and great. The grunge riffs along with the creepy off-key solos make each song stand out like nothing else. However, doing the same song formula over and over again throughout almost the entire album is really not a wise choice. I'm sure I don't stand alone when I say that a "one-trick album" isn't going to keep you interested enough to keep you listening all the way through.

Wait, Arc, what do you think of Straws Pulled At Random (7)?

I disagree with Arc's review, but everyone picking on him because he admits that he is homo is a little much. Just get over it and try to be more accepting.

As for the review, I don't own this one, but I have Chaosphere and I thought the exact same thing about it when I bought it. Then I listened to it again, and I admitted to myself that I really liked the last song. I listened to it a third time, and liked the last three songs, because they sounded more different. I listened a fourth time, and I began to appreciate the whole album, and started thinking that there was a reason that they made their songs so self-similar. The fifth time, I realized how complex this album really was, despite the songs apparent similarity, and I liked it. The sixth time, I loved it. The seventh time, I loved it even more, as all of the subtety and complexity started to unravel. I have yet to listen the eighth time, but I am sure that I will like it even more. The style of music is quite unique, with the style of riffs they created being imitated by some bands, and when it is, the reviewer calls it Meshuggahish, thats part of how unique they are. The use of atonal tones is quite intresting, I showed this to my dad, and he said that he thought he heard sounds outside of the speakers, but it was just the music. The solos are crazy, and the lyrics are awesome too. I am sure that it is the same story for nothing, you probably need to give it a few more chances.

Whenever I hear someone say meshuggah is boring or redundant, I always think listen again. Nothing is kick ass album with robotic drums and crazy times and a lot of really cool Allan Holdsworthish solos. Listening to the music as a whole makes me realize that Meshuggah is a one of a kind metal and that's why I really like them. The multiple rhythms at the same time are subltle at times (First track on Destroy Erase improve) and then other times like on Nothing it's so blatant the music almost sounds wrong, but in the end it all comes into place. I didn't like Meshuggah the first time I heard them because I'm into bands that have wailing guitars, but over time I realized that that's not what Meshuggah is about. Meshuggah is all about the low-end of the sound spectrum; it's about the bass, drums and rhythmic aspect of music. I was nieve to think that something as complex as Meshuggah was redundant and too much of only a few notes.

Well, I listened to "Nothing" again, and have to admit that it is much better than last time. (Even though I still couldn't sit through the entire album) I won't sway from the fact that "Stengah"'s song formula is practically copied in several other songs on the album, but if the entire album is not heard in one sitting, it really does sound much, much better.
