meshuggah paddy thinks they are great

Ah well, I must agree to each their own. Though, opinions can't stop it from being a fact that they are a horrible band.

Meshuggah are simply one of the worst bands in existance, they exemplify the fact that technicality does not mean a damn thing if you can't make a good song.

Also Metal Paddy can go shoot himself for being the ass he is.
who is this plonker

Original eh? "Extreme" metal bands have never changed time signatures before?

They are hardly original. Greatness is disputable, but anyone with a decent ear will see they are not too great.

This plonker is the only person here who seems willing to express my dislike for your idiocy.

Sorry for not promoting stupidity. Fun is all well, but when it attempts to come in the form of that prat. No thank you.

they are not original? tell me another band that plays 8 strings guitars, that use a lot of chromatic scales, dissonances the way meshuggah uses? (of course that are bands that use this elements in different contexts).
its not only the odd times that make meshuggah original, of course that are millions of bands with odd time signatures...but meshuggah does its own way.

if meshuggah isnt an original metal band, then im afraid there's no originality in metal.... tell me a album that sounds like nothing or catch 33, i challenge you!! :tickled:

one listen and you know its meshuggah, they have the more distinctive sound in metal today, either you like or not....

and many great musicians praise meshuggah so they must be idiots too...

I have come to realize something, alot of metal musicians are completely devoid of good taste in music. So them praising their music means about squat.

Strapping Young Lad have this little tendency to remind me ALOT of Meshuggah. Coprofago - Unorthodox Creative Criteria = Meshuggah with a jazzier sound.

They do not have "the most distinctive sound in metal today." I can thing of many other bands with more distinct sounds, Acid Bath, Mirrorthrone, Arcturus, Elvenking to name a few.

EDIT: If you are a "know it all" Paddy, than I am the fucking God of Knowledge.

of course coprofago sounds like meshuggah, they are ripping them off!:tickled: dog face gods, fragment, textures.... a lot of meshuggah clones, its the new trend, lets ripp of meshuggah! its their fault?

and saying that strapping young lad sounds like meshuggah....maybe in the destroy erase improve era(a 95 album), also meshuggah were doing it before SYL, i love SYL and it sounds nothing like what meshuggah sounds today (mesh started in 87, ripping metallica off in those times lol how they have changed eheh).
listen to meshuggah from chaosphere onwards... i never heard anything like nothing or catch 33...downtuned guitars, chromatisms, heaving riffs based on bends and octaves like they do mixed with the odd time signatures, pretty original, never heard anything like that in heavy music...

the less original thing about meshuggah is the soloing, that sounds like allan holdsworth no doubt, but he is a jazz fusion player...

and tell me, what makes your taste so great? better than everyone elses?

metal musicians are devoid of taste? some of them make music you like too i'm sure, so their taste is not so bad hein?...
and i never said it was metal musicians...

Meshuggah is awesome, once you listen to it with it with an open mind and actually get it, then you will see what I mean. I mean, DEI is pretty understandable, it sounds like a decent band releasing energetic but juvenile music, and is merely an OK album. But, most people get lost after that. Stupid meshuggah fanboys all cheer that they get heavier, they don't know a single thing about music, and this turns off people with good tastes. No, they aren't uber heavy and technical, they aren't trying to be that at all. That is not even close to what meshuggah is all about. I used to hate meshuggah, but I gave then plenty of chances, and one day, I was listening to nothing, and it all clicked. It was stangah, I believe. I, over the course of the song, came to actually comprehend the math element to the music. I put the song on repeat and I was so fascinated by all of the hidden subtleties and such that I listened to the whole album, repeating most of the songs, and then listened to Catch 33 in its entirety, and I came to really dig meshuggah after listening to them for like two and a half straight hours. It is really insulting to see them thrown in with worthless wank bands like dream theatre or even worse meshuggah clones. This is truely great music, and you have to give it 5-10 spins (or more) before you can really appreciate it.

Meshuggah's music is not technical.
