Well, if it's actually the weekend, I can't make it because I'll be in Newcastle, for a gig. And if it's actually the 7th and 8th (which is a Tuesday/Wednesday) I'll be in Glasgow, because I stay there most weeknights with a female "friend" due to still working there. So it seems like I'm probably gonna miss you.

Hmmm.
I don't really know of any places to get cheap shirts, but the city has a tonne of good places to eat. Most pubs/bars serve reasonable food and ten minutes around grassmarket/cowgate will lead you to many good places to catch some food.
