Messiah Syndrome

While the band is defunct now, I still want to keep their memory alive...

The Messiah Syndrome where a fivesome from Derry (also known as Londonderry, depending on your political preferences), Northern Ireland. The band's core members were vocalist Sean whose screaming vocals and charismatic live shows were one of the main attributes of the band, and the guitar riffs and quality lyrics of Mickey (who in fact was the brain behind the band).

The band released several demos and did the support act for several famous professional metal bands while performing in Ireland, leading to some of those bands asking how it was possible such a good band was yet unsigned.

Artistic differences between Sean and Mickey mostly lead to the break-up of the band, but the memory lives on. I was lucky to have witnessed two live shows while I was still living in N.Ireland, very powerful and intense.

On www.myspace.com/messiahsyndrome and http://archive.gothic.ie/messiahsyndrome (not entirely sure of the last URL but surely on archive.gothic.ie) you can listen to some songs. Recommended are "Molotov Spike", "Lost Transmission" and "In All Seriousness".

The band's sound can best be described as industrial metal, but more heavy live than the average band in this style (live they sounded lot heavier than on record, without saying the records weren't intense)

Not sure if any demos are still for sale (I bought them in Derry when I was still living in Belfast) but maybe if you contact the MySpace pagekeeper... Or travel to Derry, visit a local record store and meanwhile have a night out in the Nerve Center where local punk and hardrock bands tend to perform
