Obscura is the tits you faggot.

I never remember us having a trad metal thread ... and I'm not talking about the trad/doom one.

I've only listened to few Visigoth tracks on YT and they were ok, might download their album later on or something.

It's basically the trad doom thread, because all the other threads are filled with poseurs

How's the new Manilla Road? Can someone rate it?

like most manilla road albums it generally fares better when harking back to their more ethereal early '80s material, less so when it tries to be thrashy - there's plenty of both here. notably, there are some real dreamy vocal harmonies on the former, some absurdly on-the-nose metallicaisms on the latter (i go all the way back to 'dreams of eschaton' when i say i find their 'tributes' a little tiresome). i think the closer is pretty wonderful, closely followed by the opener and 'falling'. the acoustic parts of 'tomes of clay' are really nice as well but ruined somewhat by the uncharacteristically goofy exoticism of the main riff (i guess that's what happens when you do concept albums about ancient sumeria, but i could do without it). also like 'reign of dreams' plenty. most of the other songs are closer to 'road by numbers, though there's nothing *really* mediocre here either.

not sure exactly where i'd stack it up against the previous few yet (need to revisit MYSTERIUM!), but i might get back to you with a ranking soon. definitely worth hearing anyways, if not necessarily being super excited about.
