METAL FOUNDRY SDX - New metal expansion for superior

Superior 2.0 has three degrees of ambient mics that you can control levels and bleed levels with. It's not an effect, it's the real room reverb. If that's not enough, there are free Bricasti impulses out there now. I'm set.

Hmm. Not really what I meant; I know all about the ambience recordings. But I'd want a decent algorithmic reverb in there if I had the choice; I'd prefer to do it all in the plugin, and not bus out to the host.

You should go AD then. Their addon pack with Ludvig kits are recorded in the "Foundry" studio too. How metal it is? No idea, haven't heard it.

AD uses their own proprietary compression on the samples (kind of like mp3) and that is why their kits can sound a bit dull.

BFD2 and Superior are really the only choices in my opinion[b/], for high quality drum sounds.

Got around to trying Superior a little; it is good. I prefer BFD2's mixer and effects suite; but the stock snares are a little more useful for what I'm doing, than the stock BFD2 snares are.

But then again, I have a bunch of expansion packs, so never need to reach for stock snares (or kicks for that matter!)

The Metal Expansion is looking good; and I think I'll grab it when it comes out.

keep in mind that those demos on the toontrack site were made with only the internal controls and effects in superior. I imagine that using other plugins for eq and compression would produce better results.

I used to own AD, and I also have inside sources. 'Nuff said really, I'm not that fussed if you think I'm talking about my bottom.

Oh sorry, I didn't realize I had said anything in my post...here let me quote it for you for reference so you don't have to scroll up:

To make you think I thought you were making it up.

i think this sounds fan-fucking-tastic. I despised it at first but now listening back now through a better monitoring chain, i can hear all the space around the snares/overheads.

the ambience sounds fucking sickkkkk. and as far as programming MIDI drums and get the most realistic sound, DFHS and Superior 2.0 are the undisputed kings IMO..

anything i've personally heard from BFD or Addictive Drums and all it's expansions don't compare..

i do love me some SSD 3.0, but that's kind of a whole different thing... a thing that i love just as much as Superior/DFHS
