Metal grill behind combo speakers

Yesterday I replaced one of the stock speakers of my 6262 combo with a V30. It sounds considerably better, but there's a metal grill behind at 1 cm approx (V30 is bigger than stocks) and I don't know if that could affect the speaker response, what do you think?

A metal grill between the speaker and back wood? If it is easily removable, then I would remove it because it will reflect and scatter high frequencies.
