I do believe that something somewhat resembling heavy metal has become abit more common in todays computer/video games. What does everyone think about their quality? I can't recall specific instances, although I remember the shooter Painkiller had quite abit in there.

Here's some Super Metroid stuff:

on Vice City:

"Bark at the Moon" by Ozzy
"2 Minutes to Midnight" by Iron Maiden
"You've Got Another Thing Comin" by Judas Priest
"Madhouse" by Anthrax
"Peace Sells" by Megadeth
"Raining Blood" by Slayer

on San Andreas they've got an "alternative rock" station:

"Midlife Crisis" by Faith No More
"Mother" by Danzig
"Cult of Personality" by Living Colour
"Welcome to the Jungle" by Guns N Roses
"Hellraiser" by Ozzy
"Rusty Cage" by Soundgarden
"Killing In The Name" by Rage Against The Machine
"Them Bones" by Alice In Chains

Demolition Racer for regular playstation has a lot of Fear Factory songs. A lot of the speed,4x4 off roading games, driving games in general for the original playstation play FF songs. The first Tony Hawk has Primus 'jerry was a race car driver'.

San Andrea's is the best though. Driving around while listening to Alice in Chains, Faith No More and Soundgarden is... \m/(><)\m/

San Andrea's was the worst, the radio was the shittest part of that game so i would put the tv on mute and play somthing off my cd player instead. Vice Citys radio kicked ass, waiting for raining blood was half the reason i played it.

The alternative channel/Radio X plays some nice stuff. The chick Sage is pretty amusing also.

I still wear earphones most of the time anyways because you can only listen to acouple songs you enjoy a certain ammount of times during one setting. They could have atleast had acouple Faith No More,AIC and Soundgarden songs, not just one song each.

Tony Hawk had some metal. I couldn't tell you from what game but one of them had In Flames and Mastadon on it.

Underground has Mastodon, In Flames, and a bunch of KISS. THPS4 has System of a Down, Iron Maiden, and some other band, don't remember what

The Mega Man series, especially the NES ones, has very metal sounding songs. Awesome.

I agree that San Andreas has a much worse soundtrack, but metal was pretty unpopular in the mainstream at the time, so it makes some sense from a historical standpoint.
