Metal lies obscured!

I think they should make a forum JUST for technical death.

(....or they could just make a forum for martyr... )

One for prog,
One for Technical Death,
One for Technical,

define obscure? Sometimes I discover bands I think are obscure, but then find out that every other metal fan knows of them. For example, Watchtower and Cynic. I didn't know of either of them up until a couple years ago, but then found out that almost everyone here knows them. Hmm...here are a few that y'all might not know:

Enertia (very similar to new Flotsam and Jetsam)

Encryption (musically similar to death metal mixed with power metal, but the vox are clean. Their first CD is cool; the vocals get too whiny on the second)

Alchemist (similar to Neurosis, very weird but very cool)

Braindance (self-proclaimed "Progressive Darkwave", sounds like progressive doom metal to me)

Gracepoint (metalized knows them. their style is hard to pinpoint, but it is definitely cool)

The Lord Weird Slough Feg (folk metal, awesome stuff)

Opposite Earth (one of the best progressive metal CDs I've heard, but only after listening to it a few times)

later.

:waah: yes they did! but there is one group named "balistic". This group was one the last "Heavy Oder Was?" CD. The singer is definatelly the wardog singer/guitarist Tom Gatis and the riffing was like wardog. I would recognise it anywhere!
BTW the "HoW?" CD has a newbie from Titan Force, Zandelle, Omen... need i say more??? Buy or die!!!

Obscure... hmmm... good question...
Well obscure is underground for sure. I think obscure are the underground bands that heve been disbanded and remained underground. Underground means not necesserally unsigned! But the attitude has to be... hmmm... dunno! underground!

A great obscure example is Lethal. Totally underground all the way! Eternity X is excellent example of an obscure band (demonspell they are great prog!).
Some groups/albums that i class obscure obscure:
Liege Lord (great original power metal w 3 albums out)
Titan Force (Tyrant after Jag Panzer's first period)
Satans Host (Tyrant again during early Jag Panzer i think)
Heir Apparent (Seattle Rules - they reunited as rumors say)
Mausoleum is a label w many obscure groups, too numerous to mention. Black Dragon as well.
Watchtower are obscure.
Cynic as well.

I think it is not how many know it! These groups are real legends! Left their mark on the metal scene and didnt get what they deserve when they were alive! Because they were underground!

Harrow has had 4 albums out. Greatly underestimated band! they disbanded last year i think (or 1999) :waah:

More obscure talk later.

are these germans ? where they called cryptic once ? then I know them... If my memory serves me right they did change names into encryption....

The Lord Weird Slough Feg (folk metal, awesome stuff)

yabba dabba doo!

Well as for many others knowing the bands u think r obscure, it is the confirmation that all great artists/whatever that their spirit lies ahead of their time, will get the recognition they deserve after dying literally or not!

It is about being closed minded u c. u wont accept things that r too new. just like fucking me!

What counts is not the ammount of knowledge we all have. It is the quest to make this knowledge evergrowing!
This is not a comparisson to show who knows more. It is a search for learning new things in metal!

Don't worry kid! The treasure's there all we all have to do is to discover it and dig it out!
