Wow this totally sucks, I know it's a rumor but I highly doubt it's not true.

It was a hot summer day in 1999 when I bought the new Metal Edge magazine for October at a Wlgreens and sat by the Elgin Casino to read it, on the cover was a band I never heard of, The cover read..."Iron Maiden. The legend returns" and it announced the return of Bruce Dickinson and Adrian Smith to the band.

Yeah...that sucks! But with so many people getting their metal news & interviews online, there's less & less need for print mags unfortunately. No different that newspapers being phased out as we speak.

I actually have a subscription to Metal Maniacs. Insanely cheap for two-years.

At least I got 1.5 years out of it so far if they do cease production.

'Tis a shame but not surprising. I was a religious buyer of Metal Edge in the 80's and very early 90's, during the rise, height and fall of the "hair metal" and Gerri Miller era. I read it cover to cover..and yes, also daydreamed over pictures. I should seriously scan old pics of my bedroom, where the walls were plastered with photos from that mag and others alike. Too funny.

I got back into magazine buying with publications like Pit and Unrestrained, but with the closing of Tower Records, man, hard to find. Getting them through the mail isn't the same as going to the store and perusing. Sure I get a lot of news through the net, but I guess I like my mags like I like my music...in my hand! :)

Even Rolling Stone has "cut back". I don't have a subscription or anything but I usually read up on the latest when I visit the salon. RS mag is now the size of most regular mags on the shelves. The issue I looked at had Bruce "The Boss" Springsteen on the cover. The pages are glossy now.

$ign of the time$

Yeah I buy metal maniacs pretty regularly, but I can't say I have been too impressed with the later versions. I really dig it though and had to get the new one for the new Absu info/interview.

I would definetly say I would miss it.
Damn globalist fucks screwin the world of over.

One of his finest moments... I'm glad this is still up on the site. :D

ABOUT THIS WEBSITE

The philosophy of this website is twofold. Metal Haven is a retail outlet catering purely to heavy metal fans.

Given the store’s success in cultivating its customer base and adapting to that base’s taste, it seems only natural that the store’s electronic arm operate with similar principles. The website, essentially, is a mirror of the retail store. Our selection is based on the collective taste of Chicago metal heads, and we offer that same selection to the world on a mailorder basis via this website.

However, the fact remains that metal is itself far more important than the internet. Metal eats the internet for breakfast. And you know this.

This is not a graphically advanced or otherwise flashy website, but we believe it is a readable, fast, and accurate one. The point is that you know what we have for sale. We are too busy wheeling and dealing in metal to be bothered with scanning album cover after album cover, posting soundclips, or hosting a message board. Metal Haven offers the most metal at the best price.

You got that?

Yeah?

Alright?

I dont think I've bought either Metal Edge or Metal Maniacs in over 3 years! I am however a Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles devotee. Too bad they got rid of Knuckletracks CD. I found alot of new music that way. But the mag still kicks butt!

Any news lately ,you can't get a subscrpition thur their web sites and decibel mag. keeps sending me e-mails saying they are toast and would I like a free copy of their mag.The sampler CD's these two were still petty good and they still had some better good interviews in Metal maniacs, metal edge was crap.

Funny you just posted about this. Was just thinking the same thing...cuz we just got a Myspace invite from Metal Maniacs. Unfortunately, I can't view Myspace from work so I have no idea what it says. Very curious though.

I'm not expecting to receive my next copy of Metal Maniacs. I think there was an official statement that went out sometime but can't remember what it said. That they were going to keep trying, etc.

I did get the email from Decibel, and will probably subscribe to that once the free copy eventually shows up. It looked like a cool magazine.
