Metal mix critic

Overall I think it sounds decent for what we used, podfarm, alesis dm10 studio kit with superior drummer and steven slate samples. Just wanted some feedback. Vocals are going to be redone with a shure sm7b when I purchase it Thanks!

I feel like the mix sounds a bit bland and isn't quite exciting. It should be a bit punchier and attacking without being harsh. Vocals are out of tune at some points but you're going to re-record them anyways.

Thanks! Yeah I noticed it does sound a bit Bland, maybe mastering would fix it? Or maybe adjusting the guitars and bass eq.

If the mix is bland, the mastering won't make it better. You should know that.
Like, if you put a nice top-end boost to the mix with a great EQ, it's just a bland mix with boosted top-end.
When you CAN fiddle the mix instead, always go back to the mix.

True I should know this lol now I just need to figure out what making it bland sounding. Thanks though, I guess I just got so use to listening to it that it sounds normal now.
