Some of the songs are good, but in truth, they seemed a lot better when the album first came out and I was just a 14 year old.
"Holier Than Thou" is still a good song and some of Kirk's solos on the album are great.
Overall though, it's a pretty "meh" album.

Agreed.

My mate, who still holds out hope for the new Metallica, brought round the download live tracks on CD today (soundboard recording).

Without fail, the worst tracks on it are the Black album tracks, and yeah, that does include the new one.

No, people said St Anger was shit because it clearly IS shit. Just because you sat in a darkened room, naked, with nothing but a bowl of gruel and an Ipod with St Anger on it for three days doesn't mean there are some "quality tunes". So you managed to convince yourself St Anger isn't that bad - well done. But I say it's the biggest pile of fucking shite ever and most people agree with me, because it's TRUE! :zombie:

What is Kirk's playing like on that? Last time I heard a live bootleg of them or saw them live on TV he couldn't pull off even the slower solos he was fucking terrible.

It's funny, because they were actually pretty iffy. We both said that Lars seemed better than Kirk (and you know how bad that must be).
 
They've been touring for ages - and Kirk is STILL playing like crap? What hope does that leave for the new album? Not a lot (if you were mad enough to have any in the first place of course....)

There are some decent songs on there, if you don't expect much. Compared to most good metal it's shit, but it's good music compared to nu-metal...
