Note this is a Repost from another Board......

Check it out.

Wow.... Me and some friends went to Stockholm to witness Metallica two day ago... and... damn... St. Anger may have sucked more then anything has ever sucked before... HIM might be the worst pick for a support act ever... Lars Ulrich might not be the best drummer in the world... and Kirk Hammet might use his wha-wha way too much... but man... when Metallica gets up on stage, and play for more than 2 hours in front of a 30.000+ audience that loves them and, above all, decides to play nothing from st. anger and only 2 songs from the post-Black Album-era... it's magic...

So... HIM entered the stage around 7pm and played for about 45 minutes ... Don't like their music and don't listen to it... nothing more to say about that... They didn't handle a big stage and a big audience that well. They got up on stage, played their songs as if it where another day at the job... No presence at all... The funniest with the whole gig was when, at the end, the drummer throws a drum stick to the audience and the guy who catches it throws it back at him... kinda says it all =)

Metallica... more then 2 hours of classic metal... James is a great front man, chatting with the audience and smiling like a kid at christmas... the whole band in a good mood does an overall good performance. Great sound... perfaps a little too much bass at some times... great weather and a kick ass set-list:

Creeping Death
For Whom The Bell Tolls
Ride The Lightning
Disposable Heroes
The Unforgiven
...And Justice For All
The Memory Remains
No Leaf Clover
Orion
Fade To Black
Master of Puppets
Whiplash
Sad But True
Nothing Else Matters
One
Enter Sandman
The Four Horsemen
Seek and Destroy

I've seen Metallica 5 or 6 times and this was by far the best... If you got a chance to catch them on this tour, do it...

For me every Bushthrax album kicks the respective Metallica disk into the long grass , and with a new singer on board I'd be gutted if we didn't hear Bushthrax at gigs.

There is something quite pathetic that Metallica haven't released anything great in such a long time, and continually play the old stuff. They are turning into Kiss without the makeup.

that's a pretty kick ass set list with disp hero's as one of my fav metallica tunes. guitars are tuned back up, vocals sound better (not great but a lot better than the last few tours) guitar tones are scooped out like metallica of old. i still have no idea why the played that new song a few gigs back. they've said it's not going to be on the album except the "vulturus" part made it into another song. i've listened to them since a friend lent me the jump in the fire single. so i'm sure i'll check out the new cd.

it's only a matter of time until the metallica bashers (with nothing better to do than tell you how they hate metallica but, spend their time reading about them) will find this thread

I like Metallica....The more recent material is not as great but if you are gonna say Metallica sucks, then..... I want to know the secret of being crappy at music and still being a millionaire. Yes I agree some of their newer music is not as Metal....but come on! :Smug:

after 20+ years of listening and seeing them about 10 times live im am preety much done with metallica in concert,...atleast until im 70 and they are playing the casinos in atlantic city.:loco:
its not that i was ever entierly dissapointed by there shows...but that ive seen and heard it all from them and the prices of tickets today far execede expectations i can hope for.
but if i was allowed to choose there set lists  and sit in on a few songs on guitar... .hmmmm....id do that:cool:

Now there's an idea. I'll have all of Kill Em All, Ride The Lightning and Master of Puppets, with Dyers Eve for an encore. Purrrrfect. :D

A lot of the new songs weren't too great, but No Leaf Clover was an awesome song. Great lyrics, good riff, etc. One of the their best IMHO. I've listened to a lot of the live recordings from the current summer tour and they sound better than they have in about 10-12 years. James' vocals were pretty bad when on I saw them on the St. Anger tour. I'd give my left nut to hear the full version of Am I Evil? in person. They've played it at least once on this tour so far.

the only time i think i heard all of "am i evil" live was during the ride the lightning tour at the chicago aragon. every other time they only played about half the song.

Overall a pretty good setlist but...

What's with Nothing Else Matters and Enter Sandman :puke:

yeah, I wouldn't shed a tear if the songs from the black album received a retirement.

I keep hearing James's vocals are improved. I hope so. Despite hating st. anger, I went to that tour as they started bringing back so many old songs not played ever or in a long time. That said, I was sickened to hear how he sang the old stuff. Imagine that whiny Sad but true chorus and put that tone into the old stuff.:ill:
