Metalscenes

we played a show at a bowling alley on saturday. the place was empty except for the people that actually came with the bands and who worked there. while we were the only metal band there, i didnt expect much attention, but the emo, hardcore, and punk bands didnt get any recognition from the people there either. the local anything scene of glen cove is definitely dead

The metal scsne in the States sucks donkey dick.
get used to it.... this country will never have a great metal scene.

Well, it did, for a brief time from 1988-1991 or so. Local original music bands could draw 300+ people to the clubs, and people were actually into it. Touring nationals did well on both the club and larger levels. But it really didn't last that long - the summer of '88 was the high point, in a lot of ways, and it went down hill from there until everything hit bottom in 1993. It really sucked being in a metal band from 1993-2000 in the U.S., especially around here.

Local metal scene? What's that? Louisville has, at the most, 4 or 5 bands worth going out to see, and even those shows are sparsely attended.

Loner, I was at the Metal Crusaders tour stop in Cincinatti as well! Awesome show! Quite a few people from Louisville have started to make that 2-hour drive with some regularity as of late, since our city has jack shit in the way of shows, and the local "metal" promoter usually just books shitty hardcore bands. It Dies Today played here 3 fucking times last year, and every show was packed. What a fucking joke.
