micing cymbals(underhead) instead of overheads?

Damn I want to get some of these. Any phase issues or anything? I would assume from the cardioid pattern (most of the mics like this are that pattern) that it's pretty good about being to the point. The lack of low-end response really appeals to me, also being able to individually mic cymbals without having a billion stands. I hate stands, haha.

That little fuzzy bugger (the stuffed animal, not Lars) has a lot to do with the tone, too. Get five of them.

yeah sure but i was f00kin busy recording guitars...
but! the soundfile i posted is 40/100 in aptrigga. 40% form the dm5 (sound called speedmetal, but its just one sound the dm5 kicks out everytime) and 100% "brain kick X.wav" some posted on the ftp back in the days..
