Encouraged by Rahvin himself, this thread is dedicated for teaching finnish to those who cant manage it.

As basic info i would like to tell you that finnish doesnt have anything to do with english, swedish or chinese. Hungary is one of its relatives. So treat it differently.

remember that learning finnish is like learining to drink alchohol or smoke, so never tell who tought you to speak like that :D

ok, i think i'll just read a line of my super-tiny xxs-sized book of european laws/rights, whatever, i got it in finnish and i don't have a clue :)

Also Estonian.

All the Finnish I know I've learned from various metal bands. So I can say stuff like mustaametsä, ikuinen talvi, nuuska, musta surma and helwettiläinen.

All Finnish I've come in contact with is the text on the backside of the schampoo packages... (In Scandinavia, all schampoo packages have contents written in three or four languages o_O )
 
Child of Time: It is spelled parasta ennen (not ennenen), and yes, it means best before.

The topic-line of this thread should actually read: Minä toivotan sinut tervetulleeksi minun dynastiaani - what RealHanuri wrote is the same in some obscure dialect no-one should ever use.

Erik: The first one should be musta metsä (or if it is a name Mustametsä).

Hey, that works both ways!
Får ej övertäckas.

I actually made friends with some Swedish guys in Wacken last year with those specific words. They kept saying "ei saa peittää" and I always aswered "får ej övertäckas". We got along just fine. :D

Basicly only the spelling, if you were to curse you could use
either of them or even both of them. The actual meanings
in finnish are a bit different, but not as curses.

Of course you could translate them as damn it and fuck too.
