So the "Mike vs. Himself" poll brought me to another idea:

How do you like Mike's vocals on the Katatonia records (Brave Murder Day & For funerals to come)?

I'd say there is very few variety in it, so i don't like them that much but without saying that they are bad. What do you think?

And by the way i really am an idiot, i wanted to vote "i don't like them" and voted for "i like them" [speakingtomyself]great effort, dude![/speakingtomyself]

Mike did the vocals only for "Brave Murder Day" and "Sounds Of Decay". I think he did a good work. The vocals of "For Funerals To Come" were executed by Anders Nyström (Blakkheim).

I don't like them a whole lot, I think Brave Murder Day would have been a lot better with the vocals of later Katatonia albums, rather then growling, as I don't think the growls really fit.

On the contrary, I think Anders' guitar style and Åkerfeldt's vocal style work extremely well together. Brave Murder Day and Sounds of Decay have a droning sound to them, and Mikael managed to keep his voice deep to fit the music. The recordings could've been slightly better. As they are, they're considered by me, at the very least, to be among the best metal albums. It's also why I am just now getting over Katatonia changing their vocal style.
