Lol, that was embarrassing. It was obviously part of his contract with Roadrunner and I don't think anyone will fail to see through this marketing genius. Also, loved the sticker on the album "Opeth recommends this album" (therefore you should buy it without question)

If you compare Mike talking at other occasions, like the GR documentary or the Lamentations video about the recording of Damnation and Deliverance with this video about the new PT album, you can easily point out that this was not the real Mikael (partly).
I think that statement about his top 3 songs was all right, also his talks about himself and Opeth. But what he said about the new PT album was quite "mh I can't really tell that this song is good, but I'll have to say something".
And I guess he didn't really want to do it and Steven Wilson wouldn't have liked it either. And as he is watching this he'll maybe think the same.

yeah I can't see any reason why Mike would go and plug another band's album for 12 minutes straight other than for PR and Marketing. At least he seemed pretty honest. And they chose wisely from their A&R of who to choose to plug a new PT album.

It's doubtful that Mike went to RR and asked to do the video. It's also pretty fucking stupid to think that there's a "You will promote other bands when we tell you to" clause in his contract with RR. I'm sure he was approached by RR, he loves the band, is friends with Steven, he really loves the record but it's still new and he agreed to say some nice stuff on camera about it and PPT to help promote his friends band. It doesn't seem to be that complicated. Why do the fans insist on trying to make Mike out as Roadrunner's sell-out little bitch and a money hungry, tour the band into the ground, workaholic psychopath?

I honestly think that Mike wasn't that sure what he was doing there. It just doesn't sound like the words he speaks when he's very into something.
And yeah, I think what Mr.Samsara said is the most likely thing what happened. I just seems to me that this went too fast for Mike. Just like "hey, come over and say something about PT, do you like to?" - "ok.I'll be there in 5 minutes" and then hearing the album for the second time or so.

yeah thats exactly why he decided to awkwardly sit through an interview in which he was asked to rate each song that he barely even knew... because he's a huge fan.
hmm, i enjoyed the interview, but maybe it has to do with the fact that i just don't know about conspiracy theories as much as you guys.
