Well I'll give this one a bump, cuz I've been in correspondance with the owner of the company via myspace. He had some interesting things to say:
Hi Dave, I had another question about your cabs - since the Afterburner baffle is ported, wouldn't that create pretty loose bass as a result of the enclosure not being sealed? I've never used a ported guitar cab (mainly because I don't know of any besides the questionable Genz-Benz cabs), but I know from studio monitors that porting can get a little woofy and unfocused, which might work alright in a live environment but makes me a bit nervous for recording tight, modern metal, which above all else is the biggest use I'd have for the cab. What was your philosophy behind deciding to port the front, and do you think that for recording hi-gain tones it's still able to maintain its focus?
Thanks!

Marcus, the CAB is not ported...it's sealed. The vertical 12" x 16" Afterburner baffle which locks the rear panel in phase with the speaker baffle has round holes (ports) drilled in it. It acts as a diffusion buffer inside the cab to tame and minimize those nasty wave patterns without having to use insulation which just creates a dead cab. It makes a huge difference. I suggest that you read our reviews...the link is on our profile. We have never received less than a 10 in sound quality. If you seriously want the best, this is it. No cab can come close to matching us in the massive, focused low end crunch category or solid EQ range in general. Our cabs are in use by many studios in the U.S. including Groovemaster in Chicago.
Dave
Ah, ok, thanks for clearing that up! Looking over your website again, I guess that was made clear in your info, but in the Premier Guitar review, the reviewer says "The baffle is ported and acts as a diffuser etc. etc." which threw me off, because unlike in your "quality" diagram, he doesn't specify that he means the internal baffle, not the baffle board the speakers are mounted on. So that's what threw me off; you may want to add an addendum onto the link for the review just to clarify. I checked out the reviews, and they all look really promising; that being said, the Bogner 2x12 I have (but hopefully not for long) got similar reviews but turned out to be noticably fizzier (the kiss of death for recording) than a Mesa 4x12 I demo'ed it against the other day. However, the moral is to try before I buy, and I have every intention of trying out one of your cabs next to my other choices and letting my ears be the judge! Thanks a lot for the info Dave.

I'm thinking of picking one up when I sell my Bogner, cuz they have a 30-day return policy where they'll actually pay the shipping costs for you to return it if you're not satisfied - talk about confidence in ones product! Once I have it, I'll bring it to my "local" dealers for Mesa (1/2 hour away) and Engl (2 1/2 hours away) and see how it stacks up!
