This will probably only appeal to the locals......

On July 2nd @ Summerfest....

Rush and the Scorpions!

What I don't know is if they are both playing the SAME stage or headlining different stages.

That could be the stinker, in that they might be both headlining different stages at the same time.

RUSH is performing Moving Pictures in its entirety on this tour.

Also, this is the Scorps last tour ever (supposedly)

Was Rush just added? I went to the summerfest site and there was no mention of them. I'm not a big Scorpions fan but Rush would be cool to see.

Yeah, it's on the RUSH official site, and they have their dates also posted on Blabbermouth.

Looking further, looks like RUSH is playing the Miller stage. That's crazy, as I think that's a pretty small stage if I recall.

Seeing Priest last summer on the Harley Davidson stage only 10 rows back was one of the most amazing live metal experiences of all time.

One of the free stages. Awesome. May have to round up some peeps to go down there.

1 bad Economy + 1 disastrous year for the promoters - 1 Pearl Room = No Powerfest

That, plus each year appealed to a completely different audience, so it never really built up a repeat customer base. Sure, they packed the house with Iced Earth and Testament, but those fans did not come back for DevilDriver and BLS. I respect the hell out of Rob and Chris for all they did and put up with doing Powerfest over the years. I have been brutally honest to both of them over the years on my thoughts on the matter (So brutally honest that I am banned from the Powerfest forum... HA!)

2007 was such an amazing year for CPF, but yeah the mixing of bands with fans that did not mix at all in 2008, which continued even moreso in 2009, pretty much spelled disaster I guess,

I totally respect them too, and now I remember all of the arguments on the forum, and then you and Bob getting banned :goggly:

WOW! We are known by name even.... hahahahaha...

Yeah, Rob and I would always argue because he would always say that after IE and Testament, TONS of new Powerfest fans would arise. The problem was that in 08, you had IE and Testament headlining over not so desireable bands. Therefore, new Powerfest attendees couldn't care less that it was part of some festival called Chicago Powerfest. It was simply an IE or a Testament show. Even after those shows, no new people signed up for the forum, and I won't even go into festival attendance the following year.

Rob and Chris always felt I was ripping into them, which I never was. I was just stating my observations and opinions on how things would possibly work out in the end.

That had to be better than Milwaukee Metalfest.

Sure, everyone looks back and complains about it, but I had some damn great times at the festival the three times I went to it. They brought MANY MANY bands to the states long before any other festival or promoter would touch em. Sure, it wasn't ever run smoothly and many bands set got cut short.

The funniest though was the year (99 I believe) when he advertised Manowar as the headliner though any idiot with internet access knew they were already long booked for a European festival appearance the same night. It was funny though seeing dozens of disappointed Manowar fans lurking around, clearly not interested in Cradle of Filth.

I actually never got down there but heard some undesirable comments mostly about how hot it was. That and sometimes they would seperate stages with a curtain, which really doesn't help the sound quality.

I missed SUmmerfest but saw Rush on Mon nite at the Charter One Pavillion. Awesome show. They played Marathon and Presto which I don't they had played in a while. Their new song BU2B is heavy. Played at least three songs off Snakes and Arrows. Hilarious video at the end of the show starring the boys with Jason Segal and Paul Rudd.

Charter One was a nice venue - it was cool to watch the show as the sun went down over the Chicago skyline.

Only complaint - pavement buckle on LSD that f*&^%d up traffic and made us late for the start of the show.

Awesome. I would love to see RUSH one day.
Was considering Summerfest, but didn't work out.

I HATED Charter One Pavilion.
Was there last year for Priest / Whitesnake.
The seating area faces West, so the sun literally goes down in your face. Though I suppose it kept us from seeing David Coverdale's botched up plastic surgery disaster face!

I know it has to be this way, with the speakers facing away from the city, but still.

Also, with the bleachers and the green astroturf, it has more of a racetrack feel to it in the seating area.

Well, anyhow, most importantly, glad to hear you dug the RUSH show.

Here's an unhappy Rush fan.....

The rock band Rush was supposed to be living on a lighted Chicago stage on Wednesday. But when the concert at Northerly Island was canceled, a fan stepped into the limelight with a lawsuit.

Christopher Langone, 42, a one-time Chicagoan who flew in from Upstate New York to attend the concert, filed a breach of contract lawsuit on Friday, saying the show was shut down because of the rain despite a ticket stub and other promotional materials saying calling it a “rain or shine” event.

“I traveled here to Chicago to see the show with old friends,” Langone told the Sun-Times. “I’ve been a lifelong fan of Rush and we were very disappointed they canceled the show...especially when [the rain] stopped.”

He’s filed a class action suit, not only seeking reimbursement for the ticket but also his airfare and other travel expenses.

Langone says he purchased six tickets — at a cost of $80 apiece — $250 airfare, and a round of beers he bought at Charter One Pavilion before the concert was called off.

He’s perused the online fan forums and says he believes others are in the same boat.

While a new concert date hasn’t been announced, Langone says a rumored reschedule date of September would be out of the question. He’s a Ph.D student at Cornell University and will be back in class.

Asked about suing a band he has long enjoyed, Langone acknowledged: “It feels a little strange.”

They should never put "rain or shine" on the tickets or flyers, etc. That's far too general of a statement to be held to. The weather was far too dangerous for the band or the fans to have the show go on. I feel bad for the guy losing his money but I think he's gonna have a hard time winning this one. The ticket company will refund his money for the tickets, even when they reschedule the show they'll still refund your money if you want. So he's only really out his travel expense and a round of beers, lol. I'm not sure using the "rain or shine" defense will work in any of the fan's favor if they choose to sue.
