Well, I'm not sure if I should feel more like a boy scout or a vampire-for doing a good deed, or for bringing another into the fold.
I have heard that Jehovah's Witnesses believe that there are a limited number of seats in heaven, and that one of the ways to ensure a berth is 'reserved' for oneself, is to convert people of different ilk into members of the Kingdom Hall.
Weeeeell, I must have VIP balcony seats after what I did yesterday..As some of you may know from a previous post that I am an English teacher here in Japan. I actually work at a conversation school, which means I have to use a text book, but for most of the lesson I just chat. (envious?)
Naturally, with some of my high school students, the topic of music has come up a time or two, and also quite naturally, I happened to mention Opeth. Maybe the passion in my voice as I spoke of them sparked the interests of my students, maybe it was destiny..
They asked me to bring in some Opeth.
I did.
Success.
At least one already ordered her first observation by the masters. Another convert, another lost soul's eyes(ears) opened to the beauty.

It feels good to do something for society, you know.

Yes, jehova's witnesses believe heaven is limited to 144 000 people if I remember it correctly. Which somehow doesn't go very well together with the fact that they have millions of members. They do have a lame excuse about paradise on earth, but then again, jehova's have excuses for _everything_.

For all the dirt you could possibly need on jehova's:

Me and a friend invited them in a couple of times to try and convert them from their wrong ways. We did get one young impressionable subject to say such abonimations as 'the bible talks about balance all the time'. Needless to say, he was in brainwashing the next time they came by and couldn't attend.

Last time they came by, I quoted them some nazi issues from the url above. Suddenly, they were in a great hurry to get home. One looked at his watch to see the time, and then left with a lame excuse about having to go somewhere. He wasn't wearing a watch.

And we haven't seen them since. Hohoo.

actually I turned the lesson into a detailed history of metal, focusing largely on NWOSDM. picking up on previous lessons which educated them to the emergence of Black Sabbath in the late 60's. Because BWP has just been released in Japan, I started with that, but gave them a taste of Morningrise, as well as Meshuggah, EoS's Crimson, and the new Arch Enemy (which they couldn't believe was a female vocalist) (also a ripper album)

What does the missionary position have to do with Jehova's Witnesses? If you have not noticed, its about sex and the military...nothing more.

Why cant people just leave these kinds of threads in oblivion so that they become outdated??? theres no need to bring this senseless shit back to life...

very nice, very nice

lol @ jehovahs, they also arent supposed to non jehovahs unless to convert them because they are beneathe them or evil
