Hello guys,
I'm new here but I've been reading some time to time this forum for one or two years. And all that is so much interesting..!
I've started to mix one of the 4 songs I've recorded myself for my band. I have many problems and I can't hear what I don't do well.
First I have to say you some specific things about this recordings :
- for the moment only guitars are real, I played and recorded all of them for both my part and my guitarist's one
- drums are S2.0 with DFH kit for most of the sounds (i used another snare). I put it on the midi made with Guitar Pro 5, with only some velocity editing, not too much specific work on S2.0
- the bass is trilogy with Ampeg, but the true bass will come in some days or weeks cause my bassist is recording. I can also use hardcore bass that i'm currently testing, and a friend of mine talked me about redbass from Scarbee
- guitars are a bit crap because it's first time i recorded myself the guitars with a double 57's config, but it's mainly because I used a soundcard that has no preamp. So it was the natural sound out of the 57's, maybe you know how to make it less sharp.
- singing will come, it's more or less death growls that are not as low as Cannibal, and rarely too high
- used mainly some Flux plugins, a few Stillwell ones (the Transient Monster mainly on drums).
- I "premastered" the master with Ozone 3 to export the mix. I'm not a good mixer yet so for the moment I don't try to masterise "by hand"
Now A LINK, tell me if it gets broken cause its not a link of mine but it's my singer's one.
I think that drums are not good, and maybe my guitars are too much in front of the mix.
What do you think? Do you have advice for me ?
