Mix in progress (6505/Mesa Oversized)

Really like the guitar tones you have captured here. Too be honest everything sounds mic'ed up nicely - could you go through what you mic'ed up with what?

I think the guitars are the real stand out for me here, in my opinion the kick drum could come up a couple of dB.

Nice work man

Thanks! Yeah, the kick could be more defined. Here's what I used:

Drums: Well... DFHS with some samples.

Bass: Ibanez 5-String into RME Fireface 800 instrument input
Mix: DI and Bootex track with Ampeg/E602 impulses

Guitars:

- Gibson w/ passive pickups (left)
- Ruokangas custom w/ EMG81 (right)

Both guitars were plugged into Presonus Firebox instrument input and recorded dry.

Re-amping:
- RME Fireface 800
- Little Labs Redeye
- Insekt Overdrive (TS808 Clone)
- Peavey 6505
- Mesa/Boogie Rectifier Standard
- SM57 / E606 (didn't use the E606 in the mix)
- MS Audiotron mixer modules (w/ Lundahl transformers)
- RME Fireface 800

Same amp settings for both guitars, but boosted differently to compensate the passive pickups. In the mix I used Colin Richardson inspired EQ settings. RenEQ with slight boost at 85, 400, 1520, 5040 and 9514 Hz. HP at 75 Hz and LP at 10000.

Vocals were AT4047SV into TLA 5050 Ivory II (GR at 1-4 db).

Some photos of the re-amping and other gear can be found at MySpace.
