Modern Metal Mix. (8 stringage, MF)

Cymbals sound very nice. Something about the guitars could be improved though. Not bad though at all. Sounds very good, but lacks a certain realism (sounds squishy, yes that is the best way i can put it. Nice drum programming. Maybe think about combining some samples as well as doing more with the velocities. I think it will help out the sound of the snare and kick. Nice work.

Cheers,
George.

Guitars sound fantastic, what'd you use for them? Reaaaaaally fucking good. Bass is alright, but I think less lowend more mids.

Drums :/ the kick is alright but a touch too clicky. Not really a fan of the toms or snares, but the cymbals are good.

Swweeeeeeeet stuff. Just listened all the way through which rarely happens with a lot of the songs I listen to :) Digging most stuff except the drums really and I have to agree with what's been said - cymbals sound nice but the drums are kind of "smeared" in some way. Hard to describe really. I just get this feeling of the drums being filthy, scooped and smeared out. This mix would benefit from a more defined drum sound with more "clean" and "sharp" drums.

Anyway, AWESOME playing man, that is just disgustingly tight :)

thanks for the responses guise! The guitars are the usual PODx3 going into my onyx400f. usual cropping (hp 80hz, lp 13k) and ozone's verb & tube saturation. My favorite guitar sound i've gotten yet, I'm glad yall agree! ya guys aren't digginm' the drum sounds eh, rofl. I kinda thought they were ok! lulz. I know what ya guys mean by the 'smeared' sound, its from the mastering. maybe too much verb. I just have been trying to get a more "pro" sounding master. 'smearing' and 'smoothing' it with tape saturation and verbage gives it a more "pro" sound to me. but there are sacrifices doing so, rofl. I need more practice and a better place where I can get some juicey monitors and rock. but I do this all in my living room with athM50 headphones so *shrug*.

wow, thanks Felix! I love your stuff man!!!!

thanks Fury!!

I think I'll take a crack at a re-mix later and give the drums some more mids! (Thanks Erkan! I totally hear what ya mean now, rofl). I didn't use clipping during mastering, so maybe its comped to hard. i used 3 (plug) comps/limiters + tape sim on the mbus, eep.
