Yesterday I remembered about ModernPlugins that I haven't used for years.

Especially the Black Dragon and Deathcore do wonders!

I really liked the first one in the kick and snare.

Yeah the distressor (deathcore) is actually pretty good, I've also used the modern spacer a couple times and I like it, not very versatile but it sounds great. I've found that some of these plugs make Reaper 4 crash when loading more than one instance (black dragon for example, don't remember the others).

Black Dragon never crashed to me. It's great.

Some others crash thought.

Deathcore, seventh sign, lost Angel, and apophis. Probably the most used plugs from Antress. I can get over the crashes because that all-buttons-in sound on the seventh sign is just magical.

I find that SeventhSign crashes if I bring it up while playing the project. I've never had it crash while it's paused. It's only that one too.

It's worth learning pressing ctrl+s after every action.

There's an option for autosave in preferences. excellent for drum editing.

Well, I don't have this enabled because some times I open a project, fuck around with it and don't want to save it.

Another great EQ is this:

What DAW do you use? In Cubase it auto-saves to backup files. Wouldn't be too happy with the program overwriting the original project file!

Reaper. It can save to a timestamped file but I just prefer pressing ctrl+s. I'm used to it ;)

I've seen them get a bad rap here.. but I think they sound good (not all).. I've tried the T-racks clones and the CLA one.. but I go back to the Antress stuff.. :S

I save the project under a new name every time before i start working. Reaper project files are usually small anyway. I hit ctrl+s after every few moves too, next to enabling autosave... something I'm sure we've all learned the hard way. It always makes me nervous to see other people working on stuff for hours and never ever saving.

I still don't use crashing plugins out of principle though. It's just too frustrating and it wrecks my creativity. Kind of like what Windows ME was like on my computer :D
