Monitors...

I own the M-audio bx5a's, they are alright and for around 200-300 a pair (ebay or online store) you really cant go wrong. They wont sound like a pair of Genelecs but they'll get the job done. I am upgrading, hopefully soon, to a pair of JBL LSR4328's which should be sick.

Avantone MixCubes. I know that it isn't recommended to mix on them exclusively, but I recently have and get better translation than I have with ANY other monitor. They tell you exactly how your music will sound in a car or on a tv. I turn on my sub to fill in the low end and mix away.

There is something to be said about a crossover-less "full range" driver. No holes or smearing at crossover points because there aren't any crossovers. That is one of the biggest problems with budget monitors...shitty crossover and power amp design.

I have the SP-5B's... they tend to not translate my mixes very well... they flatter too much... not very true.
