Morbid Angel enter studio

Domination is indeed a fine album. I remember clearly when it was released and the state the Death Metal scene was in. Morbid Angel were the only ones that stuck to their guns. All the big names had either turned shit or changed their style, examples: Obituary - World Demise (shit, c'mon to go from Cause Of Death and End Complete to that), Carcass - Heartwork (major change in direction from the medical/gore stuff), Gorefest - Erase (shit) etc....

Gateways is awful, boring, soulless and Heretic is garbage. Formulas, on the other hand, is THE true successor to Covenant. Looking forward to this new one.

Ok. Sorry if I got the wrong impression. I was like whaaaaaat??

Moving on. I loved Formulas too. Here's my favorites off that album! :kickass:

Formulas is amazing. I was totally suprised at how aggressive and extreme it was when it was released. Tucker's vocals are bestial and guttural on that album and it is my favourite drum sound on any DM album. Off topic a bit but if anyone has a kick and snare samples similar to that album hook me up!

Every single Morbid Angel album is my favorite, EVER. I will say that I find myself listening to Gateways the most, though due to the music feeling a bit more free form and expressive rather than the usual 1 2 3 4 methods on other albums. I do love me some classic 1 2 3 4 but the soundscapes on Gateway create an entire world of imagination in my little brain taking me to a place somewhere far, far away from this reality I'm stuck in every other day. Beautifully drawn out rhythm sections draw my attention in like a desert nomad to a fresh spring and Trey's leads poison the water something precious completely dehydrating me and leaving me thirsty for more.
I had nearly given up hope that they were doing anything since the hiatus and had completely fallen out of the loop in staying up to date with the band so this thread is pretty much like viagra mixed with cocaine for me right now.

:kickass:

Can´t believe nobody mentioned covenant yet :) This is an unique piece of Death Metal imo and one of my favourite records.

Okay sound may miss some brilliance nowadays, but the character of the sound is very unique and special.

And ^THIS is one of the best Death Metal songs ever written :worship:

It seems I'm the only one here who likes Domination ;)

No mate that album was class . I loved it when it came out , far more structured than the previous albums and D Vincent vocals were awesome .
I saw the tour for the album at the Astoria 2 in London and it was immense ! Really took me by surprise . The quality of the live sound and the performance was epic one of the best gigs I have ever seen :D
