Morbid Angel - Illud Divinum Insanus new album discussion.

From another forum. I don‘t know who exactly did this but it made me laugh:

Tried to give it a fair chance once more. Cried myself to sleep. What the hell is up with the industrial crap? Stick to what you're good at MA, death metal! Or is that a forgotten genre nowdays?

lol

If DM's a forgotten genre it's only because it's been beaten to death a hundred thousand times.

The glory days of death metal are over, but I would definitely not call the genre 'forgotten' quite yet. There is still the occasional new release that is just as good as anything from the early-mid 90s.

As for the new MA, I still dont quite know what to think. Surely even the best death metal songs on IDI dont live up to any of their older classic material, but IDI isnt really what I would refer to as a "death metal" album. Its definitely different, and on my first few listens I was pretty disappointed. The negative aspects of the album are the crappy lyrics, the terrible kick drum trigger, and the monotony of the techno influence in a few parts. The vocals are unbearable at times too, especially on Radicult. But musically its starting to click with me, and I find myself really intrigued by the influences in some parts and the way the band executes them - like the intrigue of a good death metal album. This album may not be for everyone, but I dont think it's as objectively awful as some of you think.

Ten thousand years
For a test you failed miserably
The target's locked
And this planet will soon be human free

MORBID ANGEL Remix Album Due Next Year - Oct. 29, 2011

Alexandre Locher (also known as Xytras or Xy) of Swiss industrial black metallers SAMAEL has just remixed the song "Existo Vulgor" for the MORBID ANGEL remix album, due to be released early next year via Season Of Mist.

MORBID ANGEL's latest album, "Illud Divinum Insanus", sold around 3,600 copies in the United States in its first week of release to enter The Billboard 200 chart at position No. 141. The effort marks MORBID ANGEL's first CD to feature bassist/vocalist David Vincent since 1995's "Domination".

MORBID ANGEL's previous album, "Heretic", opened with around 3,900 units back in October 2003. That CD has shifted more than 30,000 copies to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

"Illud Divinum Insanus" was released on June 7 (one day earlier internationally) via Season of Mist. The cover artwork was designed by Gustavo Sazes.

When asked in a recent interview with Finland's Kaaos TV how the material from "Illud Divinum Insanus", has been going over live, David Vincent said, "[The fans] love it live. A few people, maybe some of the songs on the record are a bit too extreme for them, but by and large it's a great record. It's doing really well. A lot of excitement. We're happy to play all these songs live. Obviously, [in] the set we also include a lot of the other classics. This way everyone will have a chance to hear a lot of the different songs that they wanna hear."

Regarding whether he and his bandmates expected to get such a mixed reaction to "Illud Divinum Insanus" during the making of the CD, Vincent said, "Well, the only thing we do is make music and we're creative. We don't think about these things so much. We do what we do. My work is done, other than we perform. But the studio is done. We made a record that broke down a lot of boundaries and included some stuff that was never included before. But we've always done these kind of things. It should be no surprise to anyone that we always do crazy things, 'cause we crazy."
