More of Hoser's need for your ego-stroking

nice hoser...once again-The hat! It haunts my dreams and fills my waking hours with countless thoughts of fedoras...
where was that farm? Those were a great series...
Anyway, I'm interested in getting into photography, and plan to take some introductory courses, can you reccomend a good entry-level, yet quality camera for photography (color, preferably)? Thanks!G

Yo, yo. Camera's aren't really colour or b&w - it's the film.

What you want is a decent entry-level 35 mm SLR camera. You can probably find a used one that is fairly good and cheap (camera technology hasn't evolved a lot over the years, for the most part), or get a new one.

For new ones, you're looking at Canon's Rebel series, Nikon's F60 or F65, and Pentax's MZ-7, which is what I have. These cameras (including a 28-80 mm zoom lens, or so) usually go for around $550 CDN (about $350 US?), and are really about the same in that they'll take you the same picture, you just sorta gotta choose the one that you prefer (go to a camera store and play with them).

35 mm SLR is the standard/well-known/mainstream format for photography. Going past that, I know nothing - Duvall would have the answers there.

Hey Hoser this is FANTASTIC!!! (additional exclamation points for effect) Well done tiger! (stroke stroke) Congratulations! Would 1 year free blockmounting not be a more suitable prize? he he
Your eye for capturing and then delivering a mood, emotion in nature is impressive Hoser!
You create a great feeling of being out there in the space...
I'd carry your tripod any day!
I see you have taken tall, dark and fedora wearing to knew alluring heights...:tickled:

 Nice one Hoser! Those are amazing! (Can't helpnotice a similarity between the one on the far right and the cover to tonight's decision, hehe ) but those are really really cool! Post them in the Travis Smith forum and see what he thinks of them!

Grrrrrr, I wanna b able to take photo's like that

Duvall - Nah, you just generally kick ass 24/7. You don't need a thread like I do .

godisanathiest - Yeah, when I got that picture developed (the Katatonia-esque one on the right/my current avatar) and scanned it the first time I named the photoshop file "Tonight's Decision". I didn't exactly plan on that happening, but I guess with a figure and railroad tracks it was a no-brainer. Due credit to Travis Smith for influence there (if I didn't outright plagarize).

Sadistik/Demonspell - there are some photos on my webpage, but they're just sorta there in low-res, and for silly purposes - the site is really just there for the ramblings. The best online archive of my photos is on usefilm.com - go to the mainpage, Member Utilities - find members, look for "Kevin Lanthier". I have 70 shots there currently.
