DEEP PURPLE: 'Leaked' Album Artwork Was Rejected

DEEP PURPLE's official web site, Deep-Purple.com, has been updated with the following message:

"The Internet is a brilliant thing but can also spread rumors that are untrue.

"At the moment there is a rumor regarding the artwork of the upcoming [DEEP PURPLE album] 'Rapture of the Deep', including an image ( http://www.thehighwaystar.com/hs-pics/covers/rapture.jpg ). However, this artwork is not — repeat, not — what the album will look like. The artwork in question is also not made by Ioannis. The artwork in the rumor is one that was proposed to the band by someone else which they rejected.

"The real artwork is being finetuned as we speak."

As previously reported, DEEP PURPLE have set the tentative track listing for their new album, "Rapture of the Deep", due on October 21 via Edel Records.

DEEP PURPLE spent five weeks at a Los Angeles studio earlier this year recording the follow-up to 2003's "Bananas" with producer Mike Bradford. The album is described by keyboardist Don Airey as "a lot heavier" than "Bananas". Airey said: "It's got a real, immediate drum and organ sound. I was really happy working in there."

"Rapture of the Deep" track listing:

01. Back to Back
02. Before Time Began
03. Clearly Quite Absurd
04. Don’t Let Go
05. Girls Like That
06. Rapture of the Deep
07. MTV (European bonus track)
08. Money Talks
09. Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye
10. Junkyard Blues (Japanese bonus track)
11. Things I Never Said
12. Wrong Man

"Rapture of the Deep" will be the group's first release since their split with the EMI label.

ATTACKER: Original Bassist Returns To The Fold

Reunited New Jersey metallers ATTACKER have announced the return of original bassist Lou Ciarlo. Lou will perform on the band's upcoming album, "The Unknown".

Ciarlo will enter the band's rehearsal studio to begin refining, then adding, his musical character to the upcoming album.

After the completion of the album, the band plans on a special performance of the entire "Battle At Helm's Deep" album in the U.S. in celebration of the returned bassist later this year. Venue, date, time and special guests will soon be announced. Much like their previous performance in Hamburg Germany, they will perform the entire "Battle" album as well as current favorites and other ATTACKER classics. The band are also said to be in the negotiating stages of planning their European tour for 2006. There will also be more U.S. dates for 2006 as well, mostly consisting of festival appearances with some regional shows in between.

In a recent update at SKYCLAD's official website, the band confirmed that both their gigs at the Rocktown festival at Bebra, Germany and at the Dominion festival in Hull, U.K., will NOT be affected by the postponement of the band's European tour.

"Once [guitarist] Steve [Ramsey] is fixed up again he will not be getting too much time off as we have lined up these two festivals for September and October," the group write. "We had planned to try and fit another short tour in late October but because of Steve's broken arm we will be now putting this into early next year so that we can use our time this year to start writing for a new album."
