How can the new Def Leppard be a disappointment? I mean, what exactly did you REALLY expect from a 2002 Def Leppard album?

I think King Diamond and Mercyful Fate set some groundwork for black metal for sure with their themes, imagery, dark atmsophere, some of the riffs, even the corpsepaint thing... however the music is more a dark heavy metal.

The new Skinlab and the third & fourth Machine Head albums were big disapointments for me.

I would have to say Slipknot - Iowa. I was expecting something more on the metal side. In Guitar World they went on about how they take elements from Death and Black Metal and I thought it was just not anything like those 2 genres. Although I did like the cd it was disappointing because I thought it was going to be true metal.

You are right, I didn´t even manage to listen to it to the end. After the world class album Pyromania I always hope they can do something on that level again, abut everything since then is crap (including Hysteria).
