i say alex lifeson is pretty under rated....
Definitely man! People don't really mention him when they talk about guitarists.

I think John Bush is overrated too - he´s OK and has a distinctive voice but he´s not the hero some want him to be and mostly lives off his Armored Saint fame.

Over rated =
Metallica ( Sorry )
Marilyn Manson
Red Hot Chilli Peppers
I don't think I have to say bands like Slipknot.

Yeah, me too man. I've been waiting forever to hear that!

I'm just glad that Ken is on the mend - I really think that the barrier to the whole reunion is now Bill, who seems hell bent on living in 1972. No chance of Amott playing, but I wonder what Carlos Regardas is doing these days?

Chris.

Jeff said in some interview that Bill probably would play a bit on the cover album (so there we in a sense have an original member reunion in a way). But if it came down to a true reunion (something I´m not sure I want to happen) Bill would be the hardest to convince. Yeah, wonder what Carlo is doing these days?

dude, check out some death metal drummers.....they could destroy Charlie. I don't even like death metal, but our bassist loves it, and he showed me some videos of a guy (I forget which band) and he was just insane, I didn't think any human could move that quick.

That was probably Derek Roddey. Yes, faster then sound on the drums. A lot of Death Metal drummers are as fast as any drum machine. Most of them are not technical at all though. There are exceptions to that, like Derek.

A lot of people think you have to play fast to be good, and that's not true at all. Look at people like Peart and Portnoy, they can be fast when they want to be - but their power in in the technicality they add to the songs with off beats and all that other wacky shit that gets prog fans off at night.

I have heard John Myung talk - I have his instructional video. And I think on the one DVD they put out he goes shopping for clothes and he says a couple words to the camera. But yeah - usually the guy never opens his mouth. I guess he had to sacrifice the ability to socialize to become such an amazing musician.

Michale Anthony. Sadly, the first song from the first record killed this guys credability. Anthony is an amazing bass player and a keystone in Van Halen, yet everyone thinks he just thumps along. <-- This guy is a force.
Anthony is definitely under-rated. Listening to their first few records again, he has some cool basslines there.
But, the bass on 1984 is almost non-existant, and only thumping the root, usually. I've heard that he apparently didn't play on it, that Ed played the basslines. It must explain why it sounds so rudimentary.
