NEVERMORE - Politics of Ecstacy
I remember downloading the title track of this album awhile back after hearing people on the old Iron Maiden BB wank over it. One of the most boring, turgid bags of shit I ever listened to. Same goes for Opeth actually, who I sadly spent $5 in a Used bin once, trusting the words of masturbating Prog fans on the Iron Maiden BB. I was such a fool when I was younger

Anyway, my verdict on the Wacken lineup is that I'd go see ALL of those bands if it was physically possible. I rarely turn down the chance to see a band that I've never seen before that doesn't play nu-metal/emo/pop-punk like 95% of our local bands...

Everyone here is quite familiar with my feelings towards Nevermore I'm sure. To date, I've always felt they were pretty [massively] overrated - and then I heard Enemies of Reality. That is exceptionally better than their older stuff IMO.

Probably Damnation.

I'm not going, but this looks like fun.

Motorhead - no
Saxon - no
Dio - no, and Ozzy was the only Sabbath singer that mattered
Anthrax - no
Nevermore - seen 'em twice, they're OK, nothing special - no
Children of Bodom - total wank - no
Grave Digger - isn't this powermetal? - no
Cannibal Corpse - I really would like to see these guys live, so I'll give them - yes
Mayhem - I think this would be interesting, but Grand Declaration was crap - yes
Hypocrisy - as long as they ignore the Catch 22 stuff - yes
Bal Sagoth - RULE!
Deicide - Glen Benton is false - no
Destruction - not a thrash fan - no
Cathedral - yes
Brainstorm - who? - probably not
Amon Amarth - yes

yeah, and to be honest, I was being nice about Cannibal Corpse and Mayhem.

Amon Amarth, Hypocrisy, and Cathedral are the only ones that really interest me.

Oh my god. Why even bother? You could quite possibly be the most miserable man in existence! So tell us who you think should appear at Wacken '04 (assuming that the audience would consist of more than just you and npearce, ofcourse). :tickled:

I'm not miserable, I'm just overly critical. My line-up:

Aborym
Aeternus
Agalloch
Behemoth
Cephalic Carnage
The Chasm
Enslaved
Geasa
Mastodon
Mourning Beloveth
Nasum
Negura Bunget
Neurosis
Pig Destroyer
Primordial
Rune
Scald
Sigh
Skepticism
Suffocation
Today is the Day
Watchmaker

Bloody hell! You even listed those in alphabetical order!

Yeah, thing is, sometimes your favorite artists on CD are never always the best in a live environment. Does that make sense? I mean, although I don't own every Motorhead CD (in fact, I have none) I am sure that they would be so much fun to see live in an environment like Wacken.

ok i have to say something...

i dont know why people are so against Motorhead, but i like them, in fact, Lemmy is an awesome artist, but thats my opinion...

anyhoo,
at wacken 2002, Motorhead were the headliners as well.
and i cant even begin to describe you what happened there that year...
for those of you who's been to wacken, you probably know how this area looks like, and when motorhead were on stage, its like the whole festival area was infront of their stage... no line in the beer stands, no line in the food area... the camp sites were empty...

they didnt even let us (reporters/ photographers) into the pit infront of the stage because they feared for our lives....
at first we thought it was a joke, but then we saw the peramedics carry so many people that fainted because of the heat and preasure at the front of the stage...
it was an AWSOME show, one of the best ive seen, and the audience was just extremely wild....

you guys should definatly check them out this year, even if you dont like their music... they just give a great live show.

anyways, thats my opinion :D

carry on now.

I guess that's what I meant - you just know that bands like Motorhead wil put on a good show. I saw Motorhead support Maiden on the last tour, but they opened way too early, people were still getting their beer, it was still daylight blah blah. It's always tough to open for Maiden anyway...however, when Dio came on, I thought he did an excellent job. Really good live performer and of course most of his material is considered "classic" which means lots of people know it, sing a long, etc.

With regards to the crowd pandemonium at Wacken '02, I wonder how Motorhead compared to Slayer from last year? That was supposedly utter madness.

I'd estimate that pretty much everyone* in Wacken 2003 saw Slayer. There was an IMMENSE amount of people. I don't think I've ever seen that many people in the same place before.

* Except Sorath, who was asleep in his tent

I was pretty disappointed last time I saw Slayer live (around 2 years ago), must've been an off night for them though, they usually uh... slay. :)

Calling Bal Sagoth black metal (I also like Conan, though) should probably be considered heresy...
Otherwise:

Motorhead - Yes
Saxon - Probably not
Dio - Probably not
Anthrax - Yes
Nevermore - Probably not
Children of Bodom - NO
Grave Digger - Probably not
Cannibal Corpse - Yes, liked them the last time
Mayhem - Yes indeed, even though the TRUE Mayhem are dead
Hypocrisy - Possibly
Bal Sagoth - Probably not
Deicide - Think so
Destruction - YES
Cathedral - Probably no
Brainstorm - No I guess
Amon Amarth - Yes

... and I DID SEE SLAYER!!!!!!!!!!!!111111 they were great played all of reign in blood shut up
As I said when you woke me up, Erik, I could still hear them playing.
